My mother used to always give tins of food to a traveller lady who would call to the house begging. One day the lady said "You have a lovely home. How many kids do you have?", my ma says "2", the lady says "oh! isnt it well for you given a house with only two kids", my mother being a very meek type most of the time lost her temper and said "no one gave me a house! my husband works 70 hours a week for last 20 years to pay for it. Dont call here again!"

Some people (traveller or settled) expect handed to them.
