Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    "Students go home on Fridays"

    Oh puhlease.

If race day is that good crack, I'd say they'd easily be persuaded to hang around.

Nope, black sacks of washing to get home to the mammies.

Seriously though, student bars etc are usually devoid of students on Friday evenings.

Did we get anybody else's opinion besides Duffy's in the last five minutes. From what I recollect, Ed Walsh is just as critical of the third level sector as he is of the second level second, so Joe should get his facts right. And belittling what the student said about research during the summer.. Maybe Joe should do a bit of research himself during the summer, during his similarly long holidays.. .

I'm not buying that. If race day is such a brilliant occasion, you're telling me that students wouldn't hang around for it? Well it mustn't be such a great day then. Maybe they just wouldn't hang around for a giant piss-up, which they can (and do) have any day of the week.

And yes, I was a student once.

Ed Walsh is a ***** though.

You'd think he personally funded UL and built it with his own hands.

He moans about the salaries of teachers while receiving a huge salary for doing nothing.

Maybe all the kids in my years during college were academic freaks, but it was impossible to get a crowd out for a few drinks on a Friday evening, Thursdays were always the big nights. Never really mattered what was organised, which is why most things were organised for a Thursday.
