Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I hate this "we" that footballer supporters go on about. You'd swear they were part of the club.
Yea their part of a uk club but they hate the Uk and the people that live there.

Quinn is some gobshyte to make a statement like that.

He must have a death wish to come out with something like that in that environment! He has already been in contact with the show to say that is not what he meant!!

    "Everyone has different abilities, strengths....."

Is yer wan talking about Irish schools or Professors X's mutant academy

Also maths is more about finding logical solutions to problems....something teachers should be good at really.

We all know the real reason teachers need honours maths and that is to work out how much a round of jaeger bombs is in McGowan's of Phibsboro

Primary teachers have to teach ALL subjects...someone who admits to being useless at maths cannot be a very good teacher.

How many more times will joe play that clip.

It was done in response to Quinn's denial to the show that he had meant what he bleeding well had!!

Following on his statement that he wanted primary teachers to have honours maths, he remarked 'I will tell you why - as I am addressing a highly feminised audience.'

As one listener(male) said, it was the tone used by the minister which was highly pejorative.

Giving up the teaching of Irish completely and the requirement for teachers to have Irish would boost the number of teachers - of both sexes.

How did the audience become "feminised"? What were they before they became "feminised" ?

What's wrong with raising the bar and asking that all trainee teachers be educated in all core subjects to the highest possible degree? Don't the entry requirements for a lot of professions ebb and flow? What's the problem? No its not your personality that counts - its your knowledge of the subjects that you are teaching that counts - I don't care how nice you are, I want you to impart knowledge

    good question!

knowledge of a subject to a very high level does not equal an ability to impart said knowledge.

"Dry Stone Walling Association of Ireland"

Sounds like the beginning of a Monty Python sketch.

A lad I knew in the Highlands had a lucrative contract with the roads authority to rebuild accident-damaged dry-stone walls. When business was slack he'd be seen out at night demolishing some bits. Sure enough, the phone would ring within a couple of days...
