Never were.

Some illnesses get the medication - nothing else - for those covered on the LTI scheme and there are, seperately, discretionary medical cards, but these are and were never universal.

Thanks -it's the LTI scheme I was thinking of. Surely a transplant patient would come under that? I'd have thought so anyway.....

Didn't she have diabetes as well, as such she would qualify for the lti scheme , always two sides to a story but don't expect that on the liveline
