Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I know a few teachers and they are all good people. But I think teachers get very comfortable being the only opinion that counts (in their classroom), and it becomes ingrained in their heads that their opinions on issues are hugely important. You can hear it any time that Mary Hanafin or Mary O'Rourke is on, they have that trademark "self importance" and conceit that comes with being the only voice that matters for long periods of your working life.

In reality, it is their job to teach children. It is NOT their job to dictate Government Education policy. They should get on with teaching the kids and leave policy to others..

There's currently a proposal to amalgamate the two into one union.

    The teachers here teach less.

In france they start at 8am I think - in some Asian countries teachers work till 5pm. My local school the teachers are paid till 4.00pm - they are all gone by 3.00pm (maybe not the Headmaster) so they owe us an hour a day, that's 5 hours a week.

But surely if their genuine concern was that of the students?

    And you fall down.

    Good day.

There's nothing to stop them having a protest march in July or August. Where did I mention the word "strike"?

I like the idea of one year contracts - that's the way you weed out the useless ones.

And at my child's school, there is NO after school activities arranged by the school and the odd time they have something special, we pay for it

I'd love to be sitting in class when you run that idea past the ASTI..
