    Why are narratives so fundamental to the relational self?

    I desperately need help on this topic. Some ideas and theories pertaining to this topic would be so so appreciated!!!!

    the relational self is a perspective by which persons abandon all sense of exclusive self, and view all sense of identity in terms of social engagement with others
    So in this perspective a person does not exist independent of others as a unit but only in terms of events involving others. Just as, say, a fictional character doesn't exist if there are no books etc. in which they appear.
