Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi Guys,
I've contacted 3 companies in the last few days that were advertising on done deal.
Only one replied to me and asked what size bike, and since then I have heard nothing.
Are the guys on done deal chancers?

Can anyone gice me a ballpark figure to deliver a F650GS or 1150GS from London to Cork?

The guys doing this type of work would be on the road most of the time, so wont reply to emails or texts that often, best bet is to give them a call..

would you not go get it yourself? that'd be a nice way of getting used to it!

    Ahh good stuff!

Are you ready for the stick you'll get for being a BMW Motorrad rider?

    Meh...
Happy bikers ride machines with 2 wheels and have fun, insecure bikers need to make themselves feel better somehow... If this is at my expense, I'm glad to help :)

If you go onto the Ukgser.com site and look for the Irish section Im sure you will find someone to drive it back and more than likely for free just pay the boat and fuel I would defo drive it for you but for work,
But if its cheaper to ship it to Dublin then pick it up yourself I have secure parking for free

I'd do that for you if it makes financial sense from your point of view deegs. I'm hanging about doing nothing for a couple of weeks from next weekend on.

I'd recommend the 1150 over the 650 by the way. My current and previous bike!

Cheers lads, I'm just trying to price the process so that I can get a value on bikes I'm looking at on ebay and autotrader. Thanks agile myth, I'd deform consider that but haven't a clue how insurance would work in that sorta scenario?
Suppose it's worth a discussion, haven't seen it mentioned b4.
And I'm on ukgser lots of good info there.

I've seen some dealers offer £99 anywhere in the UK delivery so they could transport it to holyhead or Fishguard for you and you just take it back on the ferry.

We bought a few truck engines over the last year in the uk and used hyland shipping in finglas to pick them up in the uk and drop them to us In dublin. They would defo be worth a call. Shiping the truck engine cost us about €100. They have their own trucks going back and forth between ireland and uk

Just swap my insurance for a couple of days I'd imagine. I'm sure theres a cheaper/handier way but the offer is there if you want it.

Very professional, replied to me faster than any of the Irish lads. 250 fixed price to my door.

I suppose the ferry option is a good idea, just transport to the ferry and over and back...

Hyland looks like a decent option but I guess as they do not specialise in bikes you may need to take extra care to have it protected, even crated!

Agilemyth, when/if I find a decent 650 dakar I'll give you a shout. I considered a 1150, but insurance is far higher for learner with no NCB or experience.

Had a '00 650 Dakar for two years and never a single issue with it. Great bike. Love my 1150 though!

One thing I do miss is the fuel economy. If you're using it everyday you'll save a fortune on petrol. Moved up from a 125 to it and it was almost as good on fuel.

You wont go wrong with the 650 I have two, I had an 1150 and loved it but the difference is fuel is amazing

    Try http://www.shiply.com/

Put in what you are looking for and the courier companies bid on the job.

I used it twice and found it very good.

Saved over a €100 on crowds on DD.

Lads, the dakar fell through in London.
But I've managed to find one in Ireland :)

Only problem is that it is in Longford, and I am in Cork.

Doing calculations on google maps I estimate I will spend about €90 euro on diesel to go up and back to get it with a borrowed trailer.

Only thing is the trailer if an hours drive away so that is adding 4 hours extra travel and expense. Don't mind doing it but its a hassle.

Any idea's on the best way to get it to East Cork?
