Delighted for Cathal winning an award at the PPI the other night. Not the most polished presenter but puts his heart in to it.

Winning an award and the station closes in a few weeks. Bit of a kick in the teeth tbh

Looks good on the CV though

Would it be better to have no job and no award?

    see w w w . k e x p . o r g

Or check their live in-studios on Youtube.

Great for home/work listening but you'd need a newish motor with bells, whistles and whatnots to stream from behind the wheel.

It's the station I hoped Phantom would become.

Guessing Joe is doing imaging and show mapping for post-26th.

    /Newstalk weekend slot? Dunno.

Exactly why i like him...honest , not false and zany...he'd be no use on Nova breakfast...:)

Yes, 100% agree - Cathal comes across as being very authentic.

Can't comment on Nova breakfast through because I don't listen to it!

It would be great if something good was made of the 105.2 frequency when TX shuts down.

Dee Reddy did a great final show yesterday, I will really miss it as Sunday morning is one of the few times I really get to "listen" to the radio and she always had a great variety of music.

So the end really is nigh. I guess we can start the betting on what the final song will be? I'll open with "All My Friends".

Ritchie Mc and Michelle had that as their last song for their 'Pure Morning'... I could sense the emotion just before they played it and damn I had to hold a tear back myself!!

I'll bet on 'Seasons' by Future Islands.
That song has probably been played more on TX than any other...

Really hope Cathal F get's a slot somewhere else.

That depends on whether or not they want to remind listeners that they were originally Phantom.

The frequency will be used by Christmas FM this year.

It's a radio frequency. I'm sure it will get over it.

    No it isn't.

TXFM are willingly giving up 105.2 after October and the BAI have correctly allowed a popular temporary station to use what will be the clearest frequency in Dublin.

Well it might make economic sense it's insulting to me - I hate Christmas songs.

If it is the clearest frequency is open to debate but it is a way of keeping pirates from hopping onto the frequency and gaining any audience following the demise of TXFM

Think that would defeat the whole rebrand.

Last time it was Revelate. Just saying.

Does anybody know if the following are playing music anywhere, i.e. radio, clubs, etc, since they were let go from TXFM: Orlagh Donnelly, Derek Byrne, Tara Harrison, Brian Keaveney and Nialler9?

How is it insulting to you?

I don't get it, nobody is forcing you to keep your radio tuned to 105.2.

    Bizarre.

I think the poster just has 105.2 as iconic. If TXFM/PHANTOM had always been like this then i would agree. But as we know it wasn't.
This morning is as good as it could get for me. Great tunes, little or no chat. Great, great radio. Really going to miss it.

All my friends brought a tear to my eye today for many reasons but throw into the mix that you will probably never hear any other radio station in Ireland playing it again. Sad stuff

Racking my brains regarding some of the old users of the 105.2 frequency here..
Does anyone recall the old Dublin based Pirate that resided on that same dial back in the early to mid 90s- before Phantom started like?
'Club FM' or 'Sunset' or something along those lines?
I know one of them was 106.4 before Radio Na Life started.
Open to correction here of course..

*Edit - I'm fairly sure 106.8FM was Club FM

Orlagh Donnelly plays in Doyles on a Saturday night, always good craic

Brand probably doesn't matter anymore, both will permanently and completely cease to exist in either of their forms come next week...

I'm not so sure why you care so much how I feel but I'll try break it down and explain it to you:

    105.2 currently = good music
    105.2 will soon = sh1te music

That's all IMO of course so can you drop it there now like the lovely bloke you are?
