Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

After the defeat to City, Utd will want to make a good impression and kick on to the game v Bayern.

    2-1 to Utd.

Surely it would have been a bigger statement of intent to fly this yoke without having pre warned everyone it was being done a week beforehand. It just looks a bit silly given everyone knows about it.

I did get great laugh from the clowns attacking Fergie mid week mind :pac:

All my bags are packed I'm ready to go
I'm standin' here outside your door
I hate to wake you up to say goodbye
But the dawn is breakin' it's early morn
The taxi's waitin' he's blowin' his horn
Already I'm so lonesome I could die

So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
Cause I'm leavin' on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh baby, I hate to go

What time is the flight? During the game or at at the start of the game?

3-1 to utd today.Mata to announce his ARRIVAL at utd with a brace and Buttner to have a decent game to seal Evra's DEPARTURE.

Please make yourself aware of your nearest exit, Mr Moyes, your nearest exit may be behind you. Have a pleasant flight.

Surely this game is as important as any in terms of him keeping his job, so does he play a full strength side or keep players rested for Tuesday?

That plane thing is bizarre in the extreme.

    I hate myself.

Moyes' future is still up in the air, at this stage I feel like he's just winging it

Flying by the seat of his pants, almost.

In fairness they do have quite a few injuries, so he doesn't have that much scope to rest the ones who are available.

Well, he might rest Cleverly ahead of the Bayern game.
also I'm interested to see who lines up at left back today. Phil Neville is possibly the preferred option at is stage.

    3-0 United. Possibly 3-1.

Villa could have this if they really tried, but I dunno if they'll go for it.

A lorry has overturned near to the stadium. It could delay kick off.

The wheels have really come off Uniteds season. They're not in the driving seat any more.

    (Had to be done).

In other vehicle-puns: Villa to park the bus?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 32,865 ✭✭✭✭MagicMarker

De Gea; Rafael, Jones, Vidic, Buttner; Young, Fellaini, Fletcher, Kagawa; Mata, Rooney.

Subs: Amos, Giggs, Chicharito, Carrick, Nani, Welbeck, Januzaj.

Good to see Fletcher get the green light to start, he has a great engine....
He'll be trying to put the brakes on the Villa midfield, so it won't all be one-way traffic

I'm trying to imagine a comfortable, logical formation from that 11. 4-3-3 is the nearest I can get.

  • Registered Users Posts: 198 ✭✭BigBabyTaylor

Hopefully we'll see nani come off the bench for young at some stage. Should be a good game to get brought back into the fold for 20 - 30 minutes.

    De Gea
    Rafael Vidic Jones Buttner
    Fellaini Fletcher
    Young Mata Kagawa
    Rooney

Not that complicated to figure out.

Kagawa and Young on the wings presumably, Rooney and Mata up front

Interested to see how Fletcher and Fellaini works as a pairing in midfield.
Certainly more dynamic than Cleverly and Carrick

    4-5-1 no?

    DDG
    Raf ---- Jones --- Vidic ---- Buttner
    Fellaini----Fletcher
    --Young
    Kagawa
    Mata--
    Rooney

(Caveat, I rarely watch United, but this is what i'd imagine they'll line out like, maybe Kagawa and Mata switching)

I wonder does Moyes actually know his best team is, if there were no injuries, suspensions etc.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

This is where Moyes is a clot - Mata on the wing is a waste of 37m quid. In fact I'm not sure how you can get the best of him and Kags in the same side. Still that won't be an issue after this summer I imagine

In a nice change of pace, this will be United's entrance music today.

That's quite a good set up tbh.

    Villa line up:

Guzan, Bacuna, Vlaar, Clark, Bertrand, Westwood, Delph, Albrighton, Weimann, Benteke, Agbonlahor

Little bit interesting, Albrighton starts instead of El Ahmadi. Albrighton is an out and out winger, which would suggest 4-4-2. But Gabby, Weimann and Benteke normally means a 4-3-3. Maybe Gabby is playing on left wing. Also Clark in instead of Baker - much of a muchness except Clark IMO is less likely to score an OG or get a head injury within 30 minutes.

I can see Villa going 2-0 up and managing to hold out for 2-2 draw (or traditional heartbreaking 3-2 loss)

I like your logic. Didn't get a laugh with the first video so you're persevering.

Its a bold move cotton, lets see if it pays off.

Ha ha. Just seen a few tweets from a utd fan on Twitter asking why don't they just close the roof of OT!

Actually revised prediction - Utd to be 2-0 up at half time. Plane to fly over but pilot to lose control and have to bail out. He'll then parachute onto the roof of the stadium, roll off and onto the the pitch and have to be taken to hospital with minor injuries. Villa then to win 3-2 as we have practiced this scenario and have experience.

I think Paddy Power have that priced up at about 6/4.

I'm expecting 2 or 3 from United. Villa's record at Old Trafford is terrible, and despite how poor United have been at home this season, I think they can take this one comfortably. Rooney, Kagawa & Mata weren't amazing against West Ham, but it was still one of the more flowing attacking games United have played this season. That said, Young doesn't fit into that picture.

Good to see the Utd fans give Moyes a decent reception. Lot of pressure on today but can't see anything bar a Utd victory.

Moyes getting a standing ovation walking to the pitch, scousers are now in a world of confusion & outraged at the lack of ammo for their 'comedy capers'.
