Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

£40m is pretty realistic to be fair.

    Seriously?!

Liverpool would be foolish to accept anything under £100m for him given his contract, age & form

They would now. Far less so in July 2013 when the player himself wanted out. Liverpool didn't sell and are reaping the rewards now, but the bid of £40m last summer was realistic.

Not in an era when a player like Gareth Bale is going for £86m.

Shearer went for £15m and Ronaldo for £80m, both records at the time. Suarez is matching their goal scoring records and could well exceed them, while his overall contribution is substantial. If he does go, it'll be for a record fee

Edit: just saw you were referring to last summer as oppose to now

Realistic but undervalued. Despite the strop he was worth £50-60m last summer imo, £100m+ now because he signed a new contract & upped his game.

Letting a player leave for less money just cause he flirts with Real Madrid is a weak position to take. It was a cheeky bid from Arsenal and nowhere near where Liverpool valued him. Something they have been proved right on, many times over.

Even last summer £40m was not a realistic bid and fans were appalled that his release clause was only that. Particularly when you consider the money we paid for him, the money Torres went for, the money Bale went for last summer etc.

It's hard to see them coming back, they're totally on the ropes and one more from us would finish them off.

Definitely agree that it is a weak position to take and I've long been an advocate of clubs exercising their power when a player is under contract, but the amount of teams who do the opposite is staggering.

Liverpool should be commended for not bowing to player pressure and they are reaping the rewards now. That said, many clubs would have just took the money and £40m was, IMO, a realistic offer to make for an unhappy player who wanted out at the time.

Can't believe they are playing Gundi Bergsson in midfield.

Great first half. Crowd terrific too.

I think we'll need another 3 to win this.

Fantastic application and hunger from each and every player.

Coutinho and Sterling both justifying their joint inclusion.

Crowd are playing their part too

After watching that half it's surprising that Liverpool only scored once despite all that intensity.

I wouldn't have accepted less than £100m then.

So spurs sell bale for almost 100 million, reinvest that money in new players.

And end up with a team that would have lost to the old spurs team without bale.

A nice early goal again would really make Spurs heads drop.
