Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Samsung LCD TV - Tuner issue/Tuner Repair

    Hi,

Was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on an issue with a reception issue on a Samsung LCD TV.

A family member's Samsung LCD TV (a C450 Series 4, ~ 3-4 years old) is unable to correctly receive RTE One HD on Saorview. The signal breaks up almost continuously and the channel is unwatchable. Repeated rescans haven't made any difference.

A little troubleshooting suggests that it's the TV's tuner that is the issue. Here's what I've observed so far:
    1. All other channels are received perfectly including RTE Two HD (it is Saorview approved)
    2. Changing cables makes no difference
    3. Another TV (a similar Samsung C-series, slightly newer, differences in OSD menus) receives perfectly when swapped in for the faulty TV (so same cabling)

Does anyone have any suggestions for anything else I could try?

Alternatively, can anyone recommend a TV Repair outfit in the Dublin area that's reasonably priced?

I'm reluctant to go down the route of a separate receiver (another box and remote) and it seems a shame to have to replace a TV that is otherwise functioning fine.

    Thanks!

    imaracoon

I would not think it is a problem with the tv in question, rather that the signal is just on the point of failure & the newer tv just happens to perform better with a poor signal.

RTE1 is carried in a different channel (frequency band) to RTE2 & it is possible that the reception for this is just slightly worse.

Work on improving the signal rather than taking the tv for repair that it does not need.
