Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

2 very strong teams named. Should be a humdinger.

For some reason I have a feeling there will be a lot of goal chances in this one.

Rob Hennelly (Breaffy); Tom Cunniffe (Castlebar Mitchels), Ger Cafferkey (Ballina Stephenites), Brendan Harrison (Aghamore); Lee Keegan (Westport), Donal Vaughan (Ballinrobe), Colm Boyle (Davitts); Aidan O’Shea (Breaffy), Jason Gibbons (Ballintubber); Kevin McLoughlin (Knockmore), Keith Higgins (Ballyhaunis), Jason Doherty (Burrishoole); Andy Moran (capt, Ballaghderreen), Alan Freeman (Aghamore), Cillian O’Connor (Ballintubber).

Stephen Cluxton (Parnell’s); Jonny Cooper (Na Fianna), Rory O’Carroll (Kilmacud Crokes), Darren Daly (Fingal Ravens); James McCarthy (Ballymun Kickhams), Tomás Brady (Na Fianna), Kevin Nolan (Kilmacud Crokes); Michael Darragh Macauley (Ballyboden St Enda’s), Cian O’Sullivan (Kilmacud Crokes); Paul Flynn (Fingallians), Alan Brogan (St Oliver Plunkett’s/Eoghan Ruadh), Diarmuid Connolly (St Vincent’s); Kevin McManamon (St Jude’s), Eoghan O’Gara (Templeogue Synge St), Paddy Andrews (St Brigid’s).

Cormac Costelloe replaces Eoghan O'Gara for Dublin.

    Not sure why.

Mayo 4 Dublin 4 after Dublin being 3 points to 0 up.

    12 minutes in

    Serious pace to the game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,115 ✭✭✭Boom__Boom

    Mayo 5 Dublin 4

Mayo have 4 wides as well; think Dublin are on 3 now

    Mayo 5 Dublin 6

Mayo have had more of the possession.

No serious goal chances - 1 half chance each by my reckoning

Mayo have kicked a serious number of balls in towards their forwards that the Dub backs have simply hoovered up.

Black card for Colm Boyle - looked correct in my opinion pulled down Brogan

Boyle was as much a black as the foul by the Dublin lad. Shame he wasn't consistent.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,115 ✭✭✭Boom__Boom

Brogan's 3 point from play makes it Dublin 7 Mayo 5

    Goal for Mayo - McLaughlin

Long ball in - Mayo got a bit fortunate with the break and left McLaughlin 1on1 with Cluxton for a nice fininsh to the net.

McMenammin has a shot at goal saved by Hennelley after he had gone around his man

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,115 ✭✭✭Boom__Boom

Flynn off for the Dubs - Jason Whelan on.

    dublin 8 Mayo 1-5

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,115 ✭✭✭Boom__Boom

McLaughlin does great and goes around his man offhits the fist pass to Freeman when there was a goal begging.

Cluxton straight red for off the ball

Zero complaint - Mindlessly trips a Mayo player running away from him with his back to Cluxton when the ball was gone dead.

What happens Dublin's game plan with Cluxton gone?

Brady the player off for the Dubs

Injured or the pace too much for him?

You'd think after all the practice hand passing the ball around he'd at least have got that one right to set up a goal.

    What was Cluxton thinking there?!

    Deserved red.

Lee Keegan the spare man. A nightmare for any team to deal with!

Didn't see an injury and definitely walked off. Hadnt been in the game all that much

That was seriously daft from Cluxton.

    Cillian is born again hard.

Higgins kicks a point after a long run and then Vaughan kicks another

    Mayo 1-8 Dublin 8

    Dublin willing the half-time whistle.

    Get a kickout all wrong.

Very very soft point by McLaughlin to make it Mayo 1-9 to Dublin 0-8 at Half-time

Mayo's delivery into the full forward line for a large part of the first half was quite sloppy.Looks like they are going to make full use of the extra man, Dublin will have a tough job keeping Lee Keegan or Higgins quite in the second half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,907 ✭✭✭✭Kristopherus

Mayo getting on well on top after Cluxton's foolishness. Dublin up against it now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,169 ✭✭✭dats_right

Cluxton should get a ban for that senseless kick.

What has happened Dublin in recent weeks? The skill levels seem to have fallen off a cliff. The forwards were as bad as i've ever seen against Derry and again today players are running into dead ends, giving possession away when not even under pressure. Is there something up in the camp because the signs aren't good.

It looked very much like hit-and-hope long balls as opposed to attempts at long passes.

The way Dublin played in the last 5 minutes of the half, you would have to say advantage Mayo.

Mayo poor finishing could cost us. Should be another 3 or 4 points up. Good save hennelly.
Free man will be important. Dubs usually handle it well.
Inconsistency in black card again. Boyle deserved his bit Dublin lad should have got one for take down on way through to goal.

    First-half stats

    https://twitter.com/DubMatchTracker/status/449996708110692352/photo/1

Mayo won 10 out of 11 of their own kickouts while Dublin was 10 from 16

Mayo 6 wides with Dublin 3

Just over 22,000 at the game. Bit of a disappointing crowd I would have thought. There was talk of between 30K to 40K during the week.

Flynn in hospital with concussion according to Setanta at HT.

Bit odd as he was on his feet and wasnt down on the ground at all that I saw.

Mayo have a man advantage and are kicking in long high ball toforwards when it 3 Dublin backs + keeper versus 2 Mayo forwards.

Almost an own point there from Cafferkey comes off the post. Odd

Fast game, fitness levels are unreal. Quality is quite poor though. Mayo enough possession to have the game out of sight, but their final ball is very poor.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,115 ✭✭✭Boom__Boom

Freeman off - Sweeney on for Mayo

Mayo free from O'Connor 1-12 to Dublin 0-10

Agree with all this. Very surprised at the amount of very bad mistakes on both sides.

Not really. Consistent with the previous Dublin games at Croke Park.

Dublin's build up play is slow, lethargic and error strewn. Where are the lightning quick attacks gone? How many gilt edged goal chances has Kevin Nolan missed this campaign?

Playing McHale as the spare man. You would think you should free up Keegan to support midfield and be brave. The spare man should always be a decent footballer. We've made this mistake in the past making Ger Cafferkey a spare man against Sligo in 2010

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,115 ✭✭✭Boom__Boom

Great goal chance for dublin - decent save by Hennelly

Mayo doing their damndest to feck this up - really wouldnt think Mayo had a man extra

    Mayo 1-13 Dublin 0-11 Cillian O'Connor free

Dublin have a say in who the spare man is too. Not a hope they would let it be Keegan.

Lovely finish to "power-chip" the keeper into the corner.
