Twice the Dub sub keeper has kicked ball directly over the sideline under zero pressure.

Mccaffrey had a shot to win it there

    FT- Draw

Great result for Dublin but Mayo inventing new ways to feck things up.

A draw that will feel like a gut punch for Mayo.

It wasn't that fantastic an example. They drew the match.

    Are Mayo masochists or something?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,169 ✭✭✭dats_right

A lot of those young lads playing for Dublin don't look up to much, particularly that Jason Whelan lad and the sub goalie is a joke.

If Mayo can't beat Dublin without cluxton and an extra man I don't know what they have to do in the championship.

Dublin need to learn to stop getting sent off for needless fouling.

In fairness, it was as good as a win for Dublin and the same as a loss for Mayo.
Big psychological blow I would have thought for Mayo. Will be putting my house on Dublin to beat them if they meet in the championship.

A loss is when they lose. Did they lose? Still in prime position to qualify for semi so happy out.

Mayo threw that game away. 3 lads out on the Cusack side and no pass in the final minute. Crazy. Mayo lose it and there's 3 loose Dublin men waiting to mop up. Absolutely awful stuff to watch. They'll have their work cut out to beat Derry.

I think the 'Mayo are chokers' stuff is largely bullsh*t; they usually, actually, very much turn up for the big games they're involved in and often win them

That's why they've been in so many All-Ireland finals.

As for their recent finals loses, they've simply been beaten by a superior team in each case.

The way they snatched a draw, a loss if McCaffrey had kicked that chance, from the jaws of victory there almost beggars belief, though.

I'm always serious. Why else would I post here.
Didn't expect to win it, didn't expect to be in that position in 2nd half, didn't expect to lose it, didn't lose it, but may as well have. Make sense ;)

I thought that was a good game with some excellent paggages of play, ok there was some woeful passing but its good to see teams giving it a good go.

Half time came to soon for Mayo another 5 or 6 minutes and they could have done serious damage.

The main talking points will be Dublins late finish but we have seen this done by lots of teams over the years. I was stunned at Cluxton lashing out the way he did. Apart from his kick at Armagh player in 2002 he is model player. Dont know what came over the Dublin keeper, Currie. He was awful and his distribution was like a poor Junior player. Funny when he kicked long his kicks were excellent. The ref made a few baffling decisions for both sides

When Kevin Mac scored his goal for Dublin and Gibbons scored immediatley for Mayo I thought that would be the turning point of the game and Mayo would kick on from there. But as we have seen on many occassions when a team is on the up and start playing around with the ball like Mayo did (and Dublin have done in the past) you are inviting teams on to you and one slip and you are in trouble.

Mayo must be gutted tonight while this in the end was a great result for Dublin.

One thing that really annoyed me was on 3 occassions Mayo lads were shouting at the referee to get Dublin lads carded. That is the sort of tripe one associates with the aforementioned Arsenal and should be stamped out.

Something I have felt for a while is Mayo should play Keith Higgins at #6. They would in my opinion be a far better side. Vaughan has gone backwards over the last year while I think Higgins is just about the the best player in Ireland. Johnny Cooper and O'Carroll were very good for Dublin.

Mayo will be there or there abouts come August or September. There are very few teams will come close to Mayo later in the year, they have some terriffic players. Dublin I think wil come close to winning All-Ireland. Their panel is now a bit stronger than last year and Gavin has used his panel very well during the league.

I wouldn't bother. Have a look at their last posts and it's a cut and paste.
If a team who have lost back to back ai finals and are still able to still get up and put up a challenge are defined as mentally fragile then I'm afraid the poster needs a word.

    Dats right
    Dublins no1 supporter lol.....

What has happened Dublin in recent weeks? The skill levels seem to have fallen off a cliff. The forwards were as bad as i've ever seen against Derry and again today players are running into dead ends, giving possession away when not even under pressure. Is there something up in the camp because the signs aren't good.

Dublin's build up play is slow, lethargic and error strewn. Where are the lightning quick attacks gone? How many gilt edged goal chances has Kevin Nolan missed this campaign?

This is like watching a division 4 game.

    Is the Dublin keeper retarded?

Freeman , Michael Conroy , that fella Carolan , Donal Vaughan, Aidan O'Shea at times. I wouldnt call O'Connor a shaper but his contribution from open play is minimal. Mayo havent corrected the problems for last year at all still have poor forwards.

And it proves that you are trolling. Carolan is injured and wasn't even there.
Think its time you gave up.

How is having the opinion that alot of mayo players are shapers trolling ? I saw Carolan earlier in the league so assumed he was still on the panel.

The fact that they have lost 2 finals in a row proves they are mentally fragile. Couldn't beat Dublin last year depite the final being Dublins worst performance of the season especially the first half and Dublin playing the last 15 mins with 13 fit players. Then tonight completely collapsing letting Dublin back into it twice again with Dublin having 14 players for most of the match. Also add in the 2012 League final, they seem to be scared or dont believe they can win the big ones.

The good thing for Mayo is that there is plenty of scope for them to improve on tonights performance and they will do so. They had plenty of the ball and were fairly dominant in midfield.
Some bad wides, in particular from taking the wrong option to shoot.
Their long ball game into the forwards was terrible. Managed to hit Rory o Carroll or Johnny Cooper with almost every one of them.
Lack of composure in the forwards at times. Seemed to be desperate to end an attack within a few seconds with a shot or a long pass when just keeping the ball was a better option.

For Dublin - a great draw in a game they should have been beaten. Never gave up, really good team. Have so many options off the bench and still some excellent players to come back. I hope they win Leinster at a canter, because they only hope of knocking them out this year is to catch them on the hop from the quarter finals on.
