Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi all, so I'm a delayed person, scored 82% in ac and had pca this morning. 16 there, 2 didnt turn up. All but 4/5 wer female. About 8 of us passed. Good luck to those yet to do it. Bit of advice, don't worry about the wall or things, u get to try these before. I also hit a cone and had to re do the cone zig zag thing again. I gave 80% on first lap and was tired after, 70% on second lap and was dead bt 3rd lap, that's when I hit a cone but just kept going! The push pull, I'm a 5ft 3 lady and had no bother with the push pull height.
Give it ur all, don't give up and keep pushing till u finish the 3rd lap. Sprint to that final cone, 1 second cud be a pass or fail!
So 50 per cent failed? Why the high percent? Fitness, technique?

50% fail rate then? Did many of the girls struggle? I wish they would give you times rather than just saying you passed.

  • Registered Users Posts: 107 ✭✭Sgtmort

They didnt mention other groups though no1 asked. Yea about 8 passed maybe even 7. I don't know why as we were sent with our envelopes to leave first though in my opinion I'd say due to the circuit and not going quick enough. I was really slow on last lap but ran like mad to the finish line. I'd say if u keep a steady pace you'll pass, u don't need to sprint it all.

Out of 12 girls and 4 guys I think 6 girls and 2 guys passed

  • Registered Users Posts: 107 ✭✭Sgtmort

Yea I'd love to know my time as I did have to do the zig zag comes again on te last lap am thought that was going to ruin my time

    Congrats, Sgt.

If you don't mind me asking, how did you find out the amount who passed? I thought they didn't let candidates open the results until off the premises?

  • Registered Users Posts: 107 ✭✭Sgtmort

Sorry folks meant to say out of 16 only 4/5 were male! All the rest female

    Thanks for the info!

Well done again. All the best for the future steps.

Sgtmort were you doing a huge amount of training? I'm so nervous :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 56 ✭✭Sdcharger

Your dealt with in batches you go into the pca, I find it hard to believe that half of them failed, more likely it was the same as my pca where 8 that went first got their envelopes and were escorted out while the next 8 were processed as it takes time for the results to be keyed in and letters printed.

I haven't heard a thing since the AC results. Im 62 so guessing it will be a wee while yet before I hear anything.... Just have to be patient and stay positive!

How did I know 8 passed? There was only 16 of us, lined up going in 1 after another. When we all had done it we all were lying on the floor in the hall chattin and waiting for about 5min. A lady came in and then called out about 7/8 names not in alohebitacal order. We went to the door and all got the same envelope that u can tell is a pas due to the feel (you'll know what I mean if u get one, don't want to give away!)
Honestly, I haven't trained properly in about a year! I only went out for a run round my area about 3 times before it! I'm not fit but used to be heavily into sport. I cud feel it on the last lap. I really don't think it's how fit u r, just keep in ur head one foot after another and never walk, keep a steady pace and sprint that finish line!

Vetting forms landed yesterday and today. So some more might come tomorrow.

If not might be a 5 week wait

  • Registered Users Posts: 411 ✭✭Cromlech

Hope not, hopefully they are looking to clear the rest of us before the next campaign.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 518 ✭✭✭oztop1234

Good call on that. Hadn't thought of that

  • Registered Users Posts: 411 ✭✭Cromlech

I just wouldn't imagine they would have a good enough idea of what numbers to progress further in the next campaign until they have progressed everyone on this one. If the remainder of us pass all stages and are in an appointable band, would we not be on the merit list and therefore waiting on a training date ahead of the new applicants?

I reckon that with the pca they don't think they will have enough from this campaign

Any idea why so many are failing the PCA? I can't imagine you would need to be super fit to pass.

What do we reckon then, anyone under 65 will be waiting 5 weeks or so for vetting forms and pca date?

  • Registered Users Posts: 107 ✭✭Sgtmort

Does anyone know if there is any truth in that the 1st batch will be places in the north west? And te second batch in Belfast?

If not within the next two weeks then I'd wager 5 weeks.

I don't think anyone one would know, I can't imagine that information would be disclosed at such an early date.

Im a 64 and not so patiently waiting lol.

I must of fell 1 short of the latest batch. Ah well, 5 more weeks of training :-)

  • Registered Users Posts: 142 ✭✭CDizzle

Looks like 5 more weeks of taking out the frustration of waiting out in the gym!

As much as this process affects my mental health (by stressing me out making me be patient!) my physical health hasn't been better in my life!

Seen on another thread on here that there is 5 online learning groups scheduled. Groups 1, 2a and 2b have done the online learning, 2c and 2d might be the 64-66% people with group 3 being the dregs of the assessment centre like myself.
