My mistake, I'm hardly the first person to take for granted that someone on a message board is male without being told otherwise. Anyway, my point still stands and I'll go and make it genderless as you so wish.

Team environment is very much my thing.
My attitude is not for you to comment on, you do not know me.

All I said was manage your expectations

And therefore what our expectations or what we should focus on is not for you to comment on, is it?

Your post was unnecessary and not within the spirit of team work. To undermine the achievements of others does not reflect highly upon yourself.

Like I said on the other thread. Their expectations are their own to manage not for you to criticise and tell them what to do. Let them think what they want and you're entitled to think what you want.

Have you managed your expectations concerning how other people manage their expectations ? :D

Folks I'm going to throw my ten pence in here...

Nothing is guaranteed yes we know that but we all need to stay positive and try and get through this together. There are enough people out there that hate police without us rubbing each other up the wrong way. Can we just get back to topic??

I used to really enjoy the craic and banter on here but recently there have been a few people with real negative views and its given my confidence a total knock ..

Think its maybe time to call it a day on here ... :(

Don't be letting the thoughts and actions of a few spoil things for you chick. Ignore him. Keep your chin up my lovely. Keep training. I very much doubt PSNI would continue with the recruitment process if they hadn't the need to.

Agree with mop here. It's just some person behind a keyboard with their own views. It shouldn't affect your confidence when you've got this far! People will say far worse in the street when you're in so just concentrate on growing that skin a wee bit thicker and hang on in her with the rest of us :)

Regardless of who it was I just didn't like how they crapped on peoples hopes. It's not nice, wasn't called for and tbh quite frankly none of their business. As far as I'm concerned this forum is about sharing information and supporting fellow applicants and future colleagues, not knocking peoples confidence and being condescending just because they got the call were all hoping for one day.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14 THFC1882

Ok, let's all move on from this now! Oh it's such a nice day today, wouldn't you all agree? :D

Agreed!! Nice positive attitude there Mop! Let's keep smiling and ignore some of that crap. We all dont need anyone patronising us because they are going in now.

i'm kinda relieved i didnt get the call last time if you know what i mean! ;):D

It won't allow me to post links so maybe someone else will do it for me...

There is an interesting and harsh read online on Belfast telegraph on what it's like policing the border. What the officer says is how the lives of a lot of officers are

"understaffed, lonely, checking under the car for bombs"

Excellent read. I think somebody has been reading the PC David Copperfield or inspector gadget books! (Great insights into modern policing)

Great read from that article, brother is a PC and has been for 5 years so checking car etc is nothing new to me.

Still no word for me, waiting with a 62 in AC, so will hopefully hear within new month or so, been training lightly for last few weeks and will step it up over July.

Just out of Curiosity what's the general age of everyone who is still waiting to hear?

  • Registered Users Posts: 411 ✭✭Cromlech

I'm in the same boat as you 62 and waiting. I'm 25, I reckon there would be a good mixture of ages still waiting.

Terrible the waiting, but knew from the beginning it would be a long process, hopefully light at the end of the tunnel.

Mid 20s here from just outside Belfast.

Just noticed the strength statistics were updated today with the amount of student officers as 71 now. It was 39 last month. So, 39 in the first squad and 32 in the second.

That can only be good news. What do you think?

They might be starting off with a few small squads then increase them over time?
