    I have a Nikon D3100 18-55mm kit lens and a 55-300mm Sigma zoom.

    I also have a Canon 700D paired with a Sigma 10-20mm F3.5

I would love a full crop but cannot afford one and every time I mention that I want to get a new piece of gear to my girlfriend she dies a little inside.

    Sony A200 3 lens kit - 18-70, 75-200 and a nifty fifty
Canon 40d 1 lens - 18 - 55 kit lens Hoping to expand this to a 70-200F4 non is USM and a nifty fifty when i get some money saved!!

I would <3 a Canon 5d mark 2 but couldn't justify the expense as I don't do enough photography at the moment

I sold all my canon gear a few weeks ago to switch to fuji.
    I've now have a X-T1, a 10-22mm f4, 23mm f1.4, 27mm f2.8, 56mm f1.2 and a older 135mm f2.8 FD via an adaptor.

I have to saw i'm loving the freedom of such a light system. My FF canon gear was simply got too heavy to carry around indefinitely.

And it all fits into this little bag - including my ipad and lee filters. Win.

5D III is fairly full on unless you're pro. Have you looked at the 6? About a grand cheaper, shares a lot of the same parts. That said, I'd love a 5D too!

    Mine is;

    Canon 6D
    Canon 24-70 2.8L II
    Canon 24-105 F4L
    Sigma 50mm 1.4
    Canon 70-200 F4L

    Nikon D3100

    Nikon 18mm-55mm kit lens

    Nikon 55mm-300mm zoom

    Nikon 10mm-24mm wide angle

    Nikon 50mm 1.8G

    Nikon 85mm 1.8G

Weighing up the Nikon 35mm 1.8G next.

I really should get out and utilise my kit more.

I am really happy with it. Check out my flickr account in my signature and see what you think. Everything down to the Guinness picture was taken with the Sigma 10-20mm.

Are you happy with the 70-200 F4L? Do you have any examples of your work with this lens? Looking at getting one myself :)

It's a great lens for the money but I'd rather the 2.8 for indoor stuff :)

    Nikon D90

    Nikon 35mm f1.8G
    Nikon 50mm f1.8D
    Nikon 18-70 f3.5-4.5
    Nikon 55-200 f4-f5.6
    Tamron 28-75 f2.8
    Sigma 24-105 f4

the 35mm and the 28-75 will likely go once I'm convinced my new Sigma does what I need it to do.

    My setup:

    Canon 600d
    Canon 24-105mm F4 L IS
    Canon 70-200mm F4 L
    Canon 50mm f1.8
    Sigma 10-20mm
    Sigma 105mm F2.8 Macro

I want to upgrade the body. Was thinking about a 70d but now I think I'll go with a 6D to get full frame, I'll keep the two Canon L's but get rid of the others and maybe get one more lens. The 24-105 is too wide on a crop, should be better on a full frame.

You mean too long? Depends on what you are photographing I suppose. I think it's perfect on a crop for shooting people, from full length to headshots.

Apologies, I meant 'not wide enough' on a crop. I just think on a ff I could do the wide angle stuff without having to change lens - and then have some zoom for portraits etc also.

Zascar would ye sell your nifty fifty and 70-200L i'd be interested if ye were??

  • Moderators, Motoring & Transport Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 12,778 Mod ✭✭✭✭Zascar

Maybe the nifty but keeping the 70-200! Love that lens. Have a look on adverts there are always a few of both!

Can I ask, what do you think of the D7000? I'm thinking of upgrading to this, for the ISO quality and 6fps for football. Found good price $699 body, €994 here. Will be stateside in a few weeks.

havent posted in ages here, thought id share..

i have a canon 60d- want to upgrade asap, 70d maybe. i cant afford to go full frame and change my whole system at the mo.
    canon 50mm 1.4
    sigma art 18-35 1.8

lumix gf1 with a 20mm pancake - handy for sticking in the bag and great at gigs for some reason the b+w dynamic setting is really nice.

i really want to get a 10-22 , im regretting buying the sigma 1.8 i dont see what all the fuss was about when it came out and i dont think 18-35 is very useful.

I would love to have that camera. Do you still have the X100s?

I considered that and thought the 5D would be worth it after watching a review of both side by side. Video appears to better and other features attract me more towards the 5D M3, but the jump in price is huge. So I'm holding off buying it for now.

No I sold it along with the 6d and all other canon go fund the above. Fuji gear ain't cheap!

Makes sense, it would be pointless to have the XT1 and X100s.

I hope you dont mind me asking but does the X100s have good resale value? Ive never sold a camera before.

Plus with the 27mm f2.8 pancake its almost he same size as the x100(s).
I paid $1200 AUS for it in March 2013. Sold it for $975 last month. But the irish market could be very different

Thanks. Looking at it now with the 18-55mm its 1700 Euro. Ill be thinking about only this for the next week.

Is the 23mm much better than the X100s 23mm?

Chalk and cheese if im honest. The 23mm is a f1.4, whereas the x100 is a f2. The 23mm has a 'clutch' that you pull back to engage manual focusing and it works brilliant! After you pull it back if reveals the focus range scale. I dont know why all lens dont work like this. The manual focus on the x100 was awful. On the x100s it was acceptable but no more. I find myself using manaul on the xt1 a lot now which focus peaking.

The 23mm is twice the size of the (lens portion) on the x100s.

    Its kinda like comparing canon 50mm f1.8 85mm f1.8 and the 50mm f1.4 85mm f1.2 as an overall package.
