Hi. we are small company using Tas Books 2 version 6, the password was changed recently automatically, when we rang Tas, we were told we would have to pay E250 for a new password or E800 to upgrade to the newest version, do you know if there is any way around the password situation? Thanks, Shane

What type of support / contract / installation do you have ?

we bought the software about 9 years ago, but we never took the optional phone support contract...

If it's important to the business I'd consider upgrading or at the very least pay to get a password reset done.

You could back everything up and see if you can hack the password but you'd want to make sure that you don't destroy your installation.

if you spend 800 and get another 9 years out of it you'll have done very well for yourselves

there is going to be no way around this bar paying sage for an unlock or an update

    How was it changed automatically?

Do they have access to your system?

Did you not change the password when you first installed it ?

If you look at the original software license, it may well outline that your purchase was for a time defined period. It would thus be timed to close access after a preset date. You could try resetting the computer clock date back say one year and try again to gain access.

sorry the above explanation hits the nail on the head

    Really...

Cant see how that's allowed as they do not own the data and cannot restrict the access to that data., if the licence is up it should warn you and then you take action, but you get notice of the fact but still have access to your own data, otherwise sounds like extortion.

Sounds more like someone changed it locally ? either accidentally or on purpose
