Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I think it's fair enough him having a go at players.

But then it was a decent squad just sorely lacking a CF.

I don't see why the team from last year needed a complete overhaul.

Time and tide really. JT, Lamps and ash lot of miles on the clock now, Obi and Torres not good enough. Never really had a good back up keeper since CC changed bench's from Chelsea to Spurs.

Thats just to start there is a decent bit of deadwood there at present.

He didn't assemble the squad. You need to focus a little more on how and why the squad was actually assembled.

Mourinho has made some changes already, and there are going to be more.

On 'last chance saloon', there isn't any discussion. It's out there for all to see. Jose has in the main protected the squad. But if Chelsea go out next Tuesday, that's season over, and the squad overhaul will get underway in earnest. Those going out the door will be under no illusions.

I didn't say he assembled the squad. I just think its bad form for him to blame players without taking any for himself

Absolute BS it has been a long time since anyone got anything out of Torres, RDM was sacked and the interim one employed to bring out the best of him and the result two league goals from Christmas until the end of the season.

You dislike TSHO fine we all understand that but a bit of common sense would be useful as well.

This will be a different better team next season, better again the following season so you may as well get your anti TSHO bile out now.

Torres did get 22 goals in total last season though, just 9 this season. Goals that might've been useful last night. Mourinho hasn't even tried - moaning about Eto'o and playing Schurrle at PSG and game 2 at United. If anyone else didn't play them, he'd be sacked, but Mourinho gets a free pass.

It'll be the same team next season with different strikers, perhaps with the same style and same approach as ever.

It's not as if they're forced to play Gary Doherty upfront. It reflects the one dimensional aspect of Mourinho that he can't use the strikers he has, he always needs his kind, i.e. Drogba.

But he had one in Lukaku and shipped him off on loan. Baffling :pac:

Mourihno is far from blameless but I was a lot happier with that team than if it had Torres starting TBH.

Only Eto'o is scoring at the EPL level, Torres isnt doing it and Ba isnt get much of a chance but when he did earlier in the season he was poor as well.

TBF every club in the top 7 has at least 1 CF better than our current crop on goal scoring alone, RVP, Rooney, Aguero, Dzeko, Negredo,Suarez, Sturidge, Giroud, Lukaku, Adebayor.

The g.k. dituation is ok we dont have to buy anyone if Courtis sticks around, if its Cech I'd be slightly worried.

The back line is ok, JT had a mare last night but thats the exception this year hes been very good, we probably need a LB as Cole and Bertrand could both be off.

CM needs replacements, Matic is the only viable long term option there, Ramires, Mikel, Lamps and Luiz arent really up to much.

AM well stocked, we need better numbers from Willian and Salah though who will be better next season hopefully.

CF our weakest area, next year we could have a complete change, TBh I'd keep Eto'o Lukaku and buy someone like Costa, Benzema or Cavani as the main man but it remains to be seen.

Next year should see a different squad and a few of the current one will be out the door come the summer.

Goalkeeper could well change, defenders will change, MVG will play with Matic and we will have most likely at least two new strikers. Yea exactly the same team that.

Scoring goals against cannon fodder in Thursday night league matches does not cut it for me when you are supposed to be a leading striker. In the Premier league he played in 36 matches and scored 8 goals. You might think that is a fantastic return but for a team of Chelsea's quality that is not good enough.

You could argue it's not a dissimilar level of cannonfodder that Chelsea had faced up until last night in the CL to that of last season in the EL, exactly the same in the case of Basel and the low standard of Gala performance.

Jose didn't ship him off on loan. After the peno miss in the supercup he handed in a transfer request. It was clear for all to see that watched that game too, he had a look on his face like someone just told him his pet dog died!

Some people just like to blame Jose for everything, surprisingly he hasn't been blamed for the missing Malaysia flight by some of the posters in here yet.

Pretty sure we can blame Jose for starting Ba and Torrres ahead of Lukaku at the beginning of the season, then when that didn't work out he signed a past it Eto'o, thus putting 3 inferior strikers ahead of Lukaku in the pecking order.

What about admitting his own responsibility in not getting the best out of an expensively assembled squad ?
Care to revise your view now?

There are teams out the who've blown massive amounts for no return. Spurs spring to mind.
