Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Mixed tyre question

    Lads just copped that my front tyre is a bridgestone bt92 and my rear is a bt45. Same brand but different design. Should this be a problem or is it no biggy?

    Nearly down to min tyre dept so will be replacing soon enough. Is there anything special about fitting a motorbike tyre compared to a car tyre. Will my local lad that fits car tyres be able to fit a motorbike tyre? I know i could ask him but he might just chance his arm and say yes anyway.

    If you need tyres Cotters in Ballymount have great deals on at the minute

    I dont think its any issue having mixed tyres but personally myself i would rather a matching set under me

    my triumphs only had a matching set when it was new :p

    think its only a real problem if the rear is stickier then the front



    unlikely your local car guy will do bike wheels, but no harm asking. Note they're smaller, more delicate, and have loadsa ****e on them (disks etc) compared to car ones, so dont be surprised if they say no

    Think cottors is my best bet.

    I wouldn't worry about mixing tyres of the same brand, even of different brands, as long as both are the correct size

    Back in the day, mixing tyres was a crossply front and a radial rear (OK) or radial front and crossply rear (DEATH!!!)



    Had to do that myself on the GPz when it had a crossply front, and the rear punctured badly, needed a replacement and the only one I could get (18" rear) was a radial. Not a problem though.

    Scrap the cap!
