Root Canal?

    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone can tell me whether I am likely looking at a root canal?
I have a big enough filling in one of my molars, and today it became very sensitive all of a sudden. I can't handle hot or cold or even air (have never had this before) and i'm almost certain there's more erosion on the enamel. I's not constantly sore or anything, just painfully sensitive.

I've chickened out of root canal before and had a molar pulled, partly due to the fear and partly due to the cost. I have a crippling fear of dentists and also keep being told that root canal is linked to cancer??

If anyone can shed some light on this i'd really appreciate it!

    Cheers

No idea where you heard root canal is linked to cancer I'd one five years ago and my only regret is that I've not had it crowned so now I need a bit of work on it.

I was terrified of dentists before until I met my current dentist 7 years ago, and after waiting two years did the root canal. It's all down to finding the right dentist for you.

Having that root canal was the right option for me, even though it went slightly wrong and had to be redone as a bit of hard to find nerve was left behind.

As someone who my dentist now slags off to my partner as the worst patient ever, and someone with the utmost confidence in my dentist (I now go in and dose off as he does what he needs to) I'd suggest finding a good dentist based on recommendation, and taking it from there.

If you want to know who my dentist is, you'll have to pm me, as you can't refer publicly on this forum.

    I'm in Dublin city centre
