    Hi,

We have a 10 week old puppy (fully vaccinated) that needs socialisation with other dogs or puppies (must also be fully vaccinated).

We are looking to meet up somewhere on the northside of Dublin, a park, beach or whatever (open to suggestions) with other dog owners to let the dogs play together.

    Leo & Niamh

St Anne's Park has a doggy area. Full of dogs on a Saturday (and I'm sure every other day). Wish I could join in, but you're not allowed unless you have a dog (just a few more weeks to go.....)

Be careful in the dog pen in St Anne's especially with a pup. A lot of the people there let their dogs run amok while they drink coffee and pay attention to their phones instead of watching what their dogs are up to and disciplining them when needed. There's usually a bully in the pen throwing their weight around while their owner oblivious to the fact that their dog is actually being an ar$e saying how great it is to socialise them
... That said you can go into the market in St Anne's with the dogs on lead which is full of people and crying kids, different noises, vans, generators running, balloons etc so really good for socialising a pup. ;). Be careful where you park too - my pup broke down one time when she was small just outside the market and we ended up having to carry her most of the way up the avenue with random people coming over asking what was wrong with her lol! My arms were killing me!! :p

OP I live in beside Griffith Park and there's always dogs there - especially before 11 or the last couple of hours before closing. Also the show centre in Cloghran runs puppy socialisation/obedience every Tuesday.

These type of events would be great for your puppy further into the future!

OP, you say your dog is fully vaccinated at 10 weeks, has your vet given you the go ahead to take the dog out immediately? Usually there is a waiting period after the last vaccination, and that vacc can't be given until 10 weeks at the earliest.

I wouldn't be a big fan of the free for all of dog parks. In fact I don't like dog parks at all. Personally I think it's better to have control over who your pups is introduced to. I'd start with one safe stable dog who is happy to tolerate puppy craziness and go from their introducing more dogs, more experiences as you go along. Also - as someone already said- attend classes and other structured events, your dog will enjoy sights and sounds and interactions without being overwhelmed or feel they must fend for themselves a little.
Best of luck, all the work you put in over the next few months will help hugely when your dog matures around 18/24 months so take your time and choose situations carefully.

Try getting in touch with John in Dublin Dog Training. He has supervised socialisation meetibgs on Saturdays. Great for young dogs to spend controlled time with other dogs and they and you can also watch the agility classes :)

Yes, he is not allowed out for another 2 weeks but can be (inside) around dogs who have been vaccinated. We don't want to bring him out immediately we are talking about in the coming weeks.
2nd vacc was given at 10 weeks as recommended by the vet.

...anyway this is not the discussion.
