I'm not one to jump to conclusions but I'm confident there's a few dead bodies in that house.

Have you considered that they could have been flying Malaysian airlines perhaps... Kl to Beijing perhaps ??
If so I'd say the house is yours , don't forget to pay the property tax!!

The kitchen will need to be broken into.

Too many inconsistencies from the OP.

    Worst whodunit ever.

I suppose it might be a bit confusing if you don't know how our houses are laid out. We can get into the kitchen, which is at the back of their house. We go out our back door, over the fence into their garden and into the kitchen through the back door. We can't get into any other rooms from the kitchen because that door is locked.

The dog sleeps in the kitchen. There is no post sticking out of the letterbox but that's obviously at the front of the house so the post would be in their hallway. I hope I've explained that okay.

All he has to do is take his own internal keys to the house. One of them will open kitchen door.

    I would.

Oh dear, OP no longer responding. Methinks the dog may have ate him.

I was off sticking the kettle on!

Get that door open. Kango under it. Smash a hole in the wall. We need to know whats on the other side of that door.

I'd leave poking around the house to the cops to be quite honest. Seriously, just ring your local station and explain things. You've completed your civic duty and it's down to them thereafter!

So if you did need to take the dog out - you would have to haul him over the fence? Poor animal!

What country do you think they are from ?

Are they of African, Asian, Chinese, East European etc. etc. origin ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,165 ✭✭✭Savage Tyrant

Use the internal door keys from your house....chances are that one of them from your house will pair with his kitchen door....
Root around and see what evidence comes to light...... At the very least your username suggests looking in their knicker drawer.

Pfft, poor people! I text my house and it turns the lights on!

I dunno....OP goes into the kitchen by the back door. How does he put the front room light on if the kitchen door is locked?

Have you thought about ringing the doorbell , just to see if the zombies living in the rest of house answer the door ?

Have you rang their landline (assuming they have one) and seeing if it is engaged?

Perhaps they just did a runner? Did you ever borrow stuff of them?

2 or 3 way switching combination?

Even so it's very odd. Did they take your contact number? They have your address so they could have contacted you by post to let you know that they were going to be away longer than planned. If I were in your posititon I'd call the guards and see what they have to say. They said a week and have been gone for 3 and haven't gotten in touch with you to explain why.

If it was me I would call the guards tomorrow and explain the situation. As you've said you don't really know these people, they might be the nicest people in the world or not but it just seems very odd and it's got you worried. I always listen to my gut. What can it hurt? At worst they come back and you feel a bit silly, plus they'd be unlikely to dump their dog on you again. At least they didn't abandon him on the streets.

I love my dogs but the image in my head of the OP firing a rotty over the fence at his wife made me laugh.

How could it be engaged if no one is there unless the dog is ringing sex lines?

That light is in the kitchen. Same as ours. It's three switches, kitchen, sitting room and back light.

    Dogs name is Burek.

Ah so now I know where they're from :p

Did they leave any personal things in the kitchen?
How are you supposed to turn the lights on in the living room if you don't have the access?

Check the normal "hideyhole" places for money/drugs. It's a possibility you are being set up for a fall. Your prints are all over the house now. "I was just mindin' de dog occifer" doesn't wash! :)

How to become a major drug dealer in 5 easy steps:

    1. Plant drugs in your house
    2. Ask the neighbours to mind it for several weeks until their prints are everywhere
    3. Inform the gardai so the drugs are taken and the neighbours are blamed
    4. ???
    5. Profit.

The poor dog. Would you not take it out for the odd walk?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 343 ✭✭FreshKnickers

I don't know if they have a landline, I don't think so. They do have my number.

Mr. Pants I can assure you that both my house and my neighbours' have a horiztonally rectangluar lightswitch with three switches on it that control the kitchen, the sitting room and the back. There's also a switch in the hall that does the front light, the hall light and the upstairs light. At the moment the neighbours' three switches in the kitchen don't control anything.

We don't have any internal keys for our house to use in theirs. We have keys to lock the windows but these only work from the inside of course.

Ok, the threeway switch in your neighbours kitchen doesn't control anything?

But, this is the switch that you have access to that is meant to turn on the front room light?

How can you turn on the light from that switch if it doesn't control it!?

    I'm goin' mad Ted!
