My immersion is not working. There appears to be power to it (light on the switch) but it is not heating the water. What can I check and/or fix myself before I need to call a plumber/electrician

I'm not a plumber... Had the same problem a few years ago and had a new heating unit fitted - bit like the element at bottom of kettle. It screws out from top and new one is screwed in. I did it myself a small bit of wiring etc.

It shouldn't be a major job for a plumber if that was/ is the problem.

Turn off power to immersion screw off little nut on top and lift off lid and you should see a little reset switch on the stat. Try reset and see
