Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

... not quite a horse & not going to France, necessarily...

I want to plan a roadtrip in Italy on Vespas & am wondering if anyone has brought bikes to Italy, by train or ferry & started their roadtrip there? There is an option to travel through France, but to be honest that adds to much time pressure and the idea of using scooters is a more relaxed pace.

There are setups like Overlanders that will transport your bike/Vespa to your destination.

You should try asking here in Motorbikes: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=577

    Thread title disappoints :(

    Is renting not an option?

Thanks Lads, thought I had posted this in Motorbikes... amateur mistake!

I am looking into the renting situation, and also the cost of buying bikes when we get there and selling when we leave...

Just dropping this here OP: I know there is a RORO transport that comes and goes from near Cork and stops in Salerno, Palermo and Savona. The ship is operated by Grimaldi Lines.

    Here are the contact details:

No idea about prices and the likes though, nor even if they only do B2B or would also take private transports.

    Worth a call, maybe.

There are car trains that run from Northern France or Germany that will cut a lot of the boring stuff off. You'll still have a good distance to get to them and they travel at strange times, looked into it a few years ago but it didn't work with the ferries.

Another option could be to hire a van in France and throw the bike in the back.

The van is actually a very interesting idea. I'll look into it
