Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Won't get my hopes up really cause it could be B.S but if we pull that one off and get Mario in as well, that be sending out message to our rivals that we mean business.

Surely if we get him in we wont need Mario?

Walcott, Giroud, Pod, and Sanchez with possibly also Campbell would be more than enough in terms of goal scoring ability?

Add Ramsey, Ox, Ozil and Cazorla into that equation we'd be well sorted for fire power.

I agree we need a striker but im not sure we need two. Id rather we focus on getting a defensive midfielder in as well as replacements for Sagna and Fabianski.

I have both tipp_ Gunner, squad depth and having Sanchez, Mario, Giroud and Campbell. Playing Sanchez and Campbell out the wings in some games. Also Walcott, Ramsey, Pod and Ozil popping up with goals. That's scary look at City and Chelsea, having a deep squad is important. If we don't win the title with that squad then we should be shot.

Walcotts injury is still a serious one and can take up to a year to recover properly from, sometimes players never do.

I think it's realistic not to expect too much from him until the new year.

If it is true, and it's a big if, I wonder is it as I way to pay off whatever was owed to is from the fabregas sale. Don't barca still owe us in the region of 10 million

Sanchez, Aurier, Balotelli, DM, Keep Vermaelen and sign a young understudy CB would be a summer beyond what I could possibly hope for.

If I was guessing, I'd say take out Balotelli and the DMF and that'd be about it.

You never know though, might get a striker too.

Oh yeah. I'm in now way expecting that to happen.

If we even got two of those players I'd be surprised.

I'd say we'll have a LB and Striker shortly after the WC, with maybe a DMF by the end of the window. We need a GK but it'll be someone non-descript

Was that official or is it just the word? Excellent if through but I wouldnt think we'd have got another 11m seems a bit high and a 20%

Does everyone think no signings will be made until after the World Cup or is that just a silly question?

Also what do people think of the new Puma kit that was leaked ?

    Arseblog have confirmed it

    http://news.arseblog.com/2014/06/official-sociedad-confirm-vela-deal/

Good bit of business as long as we use the cash, I thought we would try to use Vela as a bargaining chip to get Griezmann from them (or maybe we have ;))

I'll be very surprised if we sign more than 2-3 players, despite our needs. Sanchez would be a great signing.

I'd be happy with that Frisbee, fancy becoming Arsenal manager :pac:
I say we sign at least three maybe four but only two of them will be big signings. I say many will be disappointed with who we sign, so no point in getting our hopes up too much.

Not bad. Bit plain. No complaints. I'll be very surprised if there isn't an unveiling on 1st July to time it with the Puma Deal.

They're gonna have a fan fit version too, the ones the players wear are very different.

    thankfully!

Yeah its nice but really plain.... The blue on the sleeves of our last jersey was nice, pity they didn't include something like that in the new one.

A "fan fit". I find that insulting as a fan. Yes I have a gut, but I might not have

To be honest, not overly impressed with that leaked jersey,
Would love if we got a collar on the new kit, I love my ireland away jersey with the collar

If the yellow one in that pic is our away jersey, that's pretty rotten. Looks like a training jersey though.

I quite like the look of the puma home shirt, the many away ones 'leaked' to date look less impressive however, still to see one i like.

CRAZY thought, in a fantasy world lets just say Wenger signs Yaya Toure, who looks set to leave City, with Ramsey,Ozil,Wilshere,Carzola,Rosicky etc it's hard to leave 1 never mind 2 of them out (with our CDM requirement) so Wenger decides to play Yaya in a defensive role, very similar to the one he played with Barca...i can dream.

  • Registered Users Posts: 727 ✭✭✭Muirshin Durkin

With his wages, better keep dreaming mate.

Toure's not even a great defensive midfielder. His strength is bursting forward and attacking, that's City they bought Fernandinho to marshall the midfield. Toure's just like a worse Ramsey :pac:

He's a very solid CDM he's just used in an attacking role with city, his work at barca was very underrated and overlooked, a worse Ramsey?? you can't be serious.

He's alright at it, but not a great. Much rather a Martinez-like player in that role. Plus if you do that you nullify Toure as an attacking threat, which is by far the bigger asset to his game.

Well, i wouldn't say you nullify him, i mean he can still get forward with those bursts, just like he did with Barca, plus he ain't getting any younger and maybe he'd prefer a more defensive role? It's all fantasy anyway!!

Ha sorry i'm new here what does pacman mean? sarcasm?

Yeah there's no way it's happening, especially with his wages.

What happens when Sanchez gets injured? Have you not learned from this season that we need squad depth?

But our injury record is so abnormal that we might be better to get to the bottom of it rather than buying in surplus players on massive wages for fear bad luck strikes again.

I mean the other side of it is that we could have one or two players on big enough money that never get game time.

I still don't see any replacement for Sanchez if he's gets injured. We needed two strikers for a while now.

Giroud is a second striker. We need someone to partner him and a substitute for Giroud's partner. We already have a replacement for Giroud in Sango.

Furthermore, our lack of squad depth may have cost us the title, yet you're worrying about wages. The reason why our squad bill was so high is because of socialist wage structure. Socialist countries have always went bankrupt eventually, so hopefully our club have smartened up instead of stupidly believing bench-warmers deserved to get paid almost as much as our star players. It also encourages players to stick around and run down their contracts because they won't earn better money elsewhere, as exemplified by Nicklas Bendtner.

Overrated and not better than Walcott, Rambo and Ozil IMO.
