I really like this song too... I've liked the Sawdoctors since my brothers brought back their bootleg tape from Féile in 1993/1994... They dont play Red Cortina on this show though, which is a shame cos it's their best song...

From what I remember they make a mess of some cover of some sixties cover at the end of the show..

Ah yes. I remember the mess at the end now...

The lyrics of I Used To Love Her are fantastic.

Do you remember her collection for Concern on Christmas Eve?

    Ha ha, brilliant. :-D

Love that. Now I'm off to look up ' Me heart is living in the sixties still', one of my personal favourites of theirs.

You'd feel terribly sorry for Julie Feeney though, making one of the country's most talented singers and musicians use a backing track with pre-recorded backing vocals and instrumentation is a bit of an insult to the fact that she had brought a string trio (containing the concertmaster of the RTE Concert Orchestra) and Cormac de Barra on harp. There must have been something majorly wrong with the editing crew that most of the shots were so dodgy.

I must say that I always found Dr. Ciara Kelly very annoying on George Hook's programme. But she is excellent here tonight! She is dead right about the free
doctor for under 5s being a political ploy. :(

Picked a good night to go, Grey. Good show tonight.

What's the vibe like during the jokes?

Now that i know what to expect, they are growing on me (I particularly liked his IFTA/SNS crap jokes at the start comment :-D )

The white one with the kinda black spotty pattern? No! :pac:

I was on B Block, 5th row, centre.

Brendan was a little bit flustered at the start, they were a bit late coming into the studio before recording so he faffed a bit with the jokes...

    But the craic was good....

Lovely singer Julie, she did a song beforehand for a YT thingie I think, but she had a beautiful voice and the sound was excellent in the studio....Typical, forgot to tape the program......

I thought the birds nest was her hair at first, when Julie came out the second time I realised it was a hat...:)

There's very little audience interaction on the SNS since Tubs left, I think that's a good thing in general but perhaps once a month he should roam around and have a natter with them.

Yeah he wasn't a happy bunny at all. It was all a tad rushed alright, it seemed to end fairly abruptly.

Brendan is good craic aswel, I actually thought for a second that he was serious about asking people to hang on for another show. :)

Question for the Audience people? Exactly how much free wine is there at the SNS?

Can you just fill up as much as you like?

Brendan gave a couple of bottles of wine to members of the audience during one of the breaks for special occasions....

He is very at ease with people I have to say....

I'd say he could handle an audience natter no bother....

It was great there was no misery stories tonight....Apart from George's experience in politics....(for which I have no sympathy btw)...

At the reception there were small glasses of red and white wine, i had one, it was vile but then again I hate wine.

Seemed to be able to take as much as you could swallow. Minerals too.

That is what gives him an edge over Tubridy, in my opinion, he actually can relate to people, in a way that Tubridy never can, and never will.

Does George still present 'The Business' on Saturday mornings?

He does. I really like George on 'The Business'. His enthusiasm for all subjects makes for compelling listening/viewing. I believe Richard Curran might be replacing him on the programme.

He has the Cork craic if you know what I mean Lynn....Takes it on the chin, I'd be a hard audience but I like his ease.

It's been missing this season imo. Too much serious stuff on the program. We get that on the LLS.....

Naturally, I love the Cork craic....Mr. T is a bit people awkward in the "Pat Kenny" sense if you know what I mean...

I'd rather go for a pint with Brendan than Mr. T.....

I agree, I thought he was surprisingly candid about his brief period in Politics.

He must have been promised all sorts and received very little. I think he was correct to give it up, he was sold a pup.

    Pup how are ye Skid....

He was promised a big job and Richard Bruton wiped the floor with him and he ran back to his "leave of absence" from RTE like a bunny to the burrow....

He got his "dig" in tonight all the same....

And Richard is laughing his block off...
