Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Why is it that on any site that parent-y types frequent, these silly abbreviations get used. These no doubt are the very same people that would get irritated by text-speak, or should that be TS?

    DD - bra size
    DS - games console
DP - double penetration; data protection
    DH - a cycling thing

And that's all they should be. Those abbreviations on "mumsy" forums are SH1T!!!

"Hey girls. Well, DD1 is entering the terrible teens and wants her own room but DH isn't having it, and anyway it'll just cause ructions from DD2 and DS. What's a gal to do lol!!!"

I get the whole DTD thing.

You are hardly going to say in the context of trying to conceive.

"We fcuked/shagged/had sex 4 times today as I was ovulating"

"DTD 4 times today as I was ovulating" is far more appropriate when you have to talk about it in near clinical terms.

One that I've seen used is "T's and C's" as an abbreviation of "terms and conditions". Annoying apostrophes and all. This is on my Credit Union's website.

Surely it's not that difficult to just write the words. I wonder what people gain from using these acronyms everywhere. 0.5 of a split second spent typing? That time is lost tenfold when the poor reader has to figure out what the bloody thing means.

I really can't see how "DTD" is more appropriate than "had sex". These people are presumably adults who can have a mature discussion.

Abbreviations like this absolutely do my head in and are totally unnecessary as well. Fcuking speak properly!

SOOO loike, I DTD with DH to try for a DD but we had to wait for GP to pick up DS because we like it noisy loike OMG and we got round to DTD seven times because we're trying to TTC and I've started to talk dirty in abbreviations too (not in front of DS obvs, only to DH) and I was talking to my BFF (the one who gets bad PMT) and she said her DD only arrived after TTC for eleventy years of DTD six times daily..........

    Unforgivable.

My head... reading this... this... this.. I dunno. Can I have those two minutes back of my life.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Would you be happy with HS? Isn't it just used to shortened words. Have you an issue with the abbreviations or what they mean?

I was on a wedding forum and they were just as bad.

    FH- future husband
    DF- darling fiancè
    WD- wedding date
    CS- church singer

    Jesus, just type the words!!

Grrr! Stuff like MIL is fair enough I think because once it's in the context of talking about your mother-in-law, people will know what you mean. But stuff that people know others won't understand and which isn't necessary, but they post it anyway because it looks kinda "kooky"... they're just excluding readers and making it look like a circle-jerk.
