Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi Guys

Thought it might be nice to post pictures of your daily coffee ritual.
I'll get the ball rolling, here is my (be it poor mans) Coffee ritual.
It's not an expensive setup, but certainly nicer than instant coffee :)

I no longer use my cafetiere and found a post on the internet how easy they froat milk. I just heat the milk in the microwave - Much easier than those electric whisks.

New Saturday ritual thanks to the Hausgrind purchase. Seriously amazing handgrinder - I've been totally blown away by it. Have been using it also for espresso shots and its as good as either my Vario or my K3.

How much was the hausgrind grinder? The website isn't selling them yet.

You've to put your name down and next batch probably available in May. Beech - £120 and Walnut - £130.

MJMC, would you recommend the milk frother you have in your pictures? Is it a bodum?
Have you used yours with skimmed milk? Is it a waste of time?

Why do you say that? Takes about 5 mins tops to make a coffee?

Will take some shots at the weekend of the espresso grind / shots using it. If I was just pulling espresso shots at home for myself I'd cosnider using the Hausgrind fulltime.

    Hey

It's just a single cup cafetiere - only 4 or 5 quid. No longer use it as I use my moka pot.
It's much better than those hand held frothers.
I find if you just "pump" the milk so to speak down at the bottom of the cafetiere it creates small micro foam like bubbles...
I saw a video on youtube

Doodee what do you do after that last photo with the coffee in the jug? I assume after all that meticulous care and attention you do not drink it out of the jug, so is there a reason why you wouldn't put whatever cup you're drinking it from there instead of the jug? Surely the jug is just another item cooling down the coffee.

Just the idea of using a jug. As you say, seems strange that after being so meticulous I should then go and do something crazy like that.

Ahahahahaaha very good! "Let me take another selfie!"

I was thinking to myself "seriously though, you have not answered me about why you put it in a jug" and then I looked again in more detail now that Im on my PC. Aaaaah it is a cup, doh! It looks huge from the angle you had taken the photo, hence why I thought that.

I shall now slither off to a dark corner somewhere...

hahaha, brilliant! Sure who doesn't drink their espresso by the jug? Allows you to really get your nose in the cup for a pre taste sniff. Espresso via jug coming to some hipsters near you soon.

Donnacha re the Hausgrind, just wondering were you in batch one orders ? Personally I have been waiting on mine as part of batch 2 and it's been almost two months since I paid for mine. No reply to emails and no updates on madebyknock Facebook last time I checked.

Sorry to hear that. Peter was definitely slow to reply to emails - do you want to PM me the email address you are using to see if I have any others? I'd been mailing him prior to the Hausgrind release as I'd previously purchased a knocktop from him. Raytaxi has one ordered also - though I think he is batch 3?

I was a batch 2er - paid deposit 3rd Feb, selected materials 25th feb, paid balance 5th march. Got a group email 22nd March saying he was working on the wood orders (The aluminium and stainless steel were to take longer). Got an email from him 10th April to say mine had shipped - arrived via parcel motel 11th April.

In the meantime he has also been in touch with me as he was sending me a replacement knocktop - he dropped me a mail last week to say it had shipped and I received it on 2nd May.

Looks nice planet x. Like the wooden spoon / paddle thing.

The aeropress is such a great product. Every house should have one.

Edit ... You inspired me to a photo shoot of my own. I'll do an aeropress one at a later date.
