Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hey,

Im about to sell my iPhone 4S, just sourcing a replacement phone before doing so.

My question is, how do you remove all your personal data from the phone? Is there a return to factory settings and how much does this remove? Also, does the phone hold any installed updated when whiping it?

Connect to iTunes and do a restore it will wipe the phone completely, be like a new phone.

    Simple way is :

    Settings
    General
    Reset
    Erase all content and settings.

That way you can leave the phone fully functioning, show a prospective buyer everything working and once you agree do the above. Full restores the phone in less than 5 mins and no need to go to iTunes. And it stays on the most recent update that you already had installed.

If it's running iOS 7, don't forget to sign out of your iCloud account.

Doesn't erasing all content do this?

Isn't it with ios7 if you don't sign out of iCloud then find my iPhone is active and even if you delete the phone it will ask for the Apple ID and password?

When I was selling my iPad 4 I done the erase settings as I described. And then when setting it up as a new iPad for the new owner, all my details were gone. So the new owner signed in with her details.

It's a mute point though I suppose as if it makes people more comfortable, just delete or sign out anyway.

I remember recently formatting an iPhone with iOS 7 and it asked me if I wanted to sign out of find my iPhone first.

Maybe the iPad wasn't signed in to find my iPhone?

You can't restore it until find my iPhone has been turned off. So you can erase all settings and sign in with a new ID without having to sign out of the old iCloud. You can't restore a locked phone without having disabled the find my iPhone, it's a security feature. So basically make sure you have a passcode on your devices if you want to make the phone pretty much useless to thieves.

So, ive backed up my iphone to my computer... Anyone know how/where i can see my photos on my pc?

I want to be sure that all my pics are saved before i clear the device...

You will need to look through the backup to see the pics or use one of the backup extractors available.

Pretty sure there is a programme on Windows that allows you to save them all into a folder pretty easily?

When I want to bulk remove my photos I just connect it to the PC and close out of iTunes. Go in through my computer and bulk copy/paste them to the PC.
