Went to my local motor factor to purchase service parts for my IS(220d) today. I asked did he have it all in stock,

"of course i do" he said,

"sure they're the same engine as in a Hi-lux"

how dare he, the dirty commoner :)
Surely it's just a back wheel drive diesel avensis?

Are you presuming you're the o my one to have driven a Lexus?

of course not, its not like ive got a merc 300sl. But saying a toyota or celica is the same inside as a lexus is a bit long in the tooth, im not sure if others have driven either and just comparing switch gear/ pedals.

2 different arguments going on here

    1) that basic avensis in the pic and the lexus both use similar pieces of whatever

    that is correct

    2) the avensis and the lexus look similar inside as a result of (1)

    DEFINITELY NOT :pac::pac:

Friends father has one, lovely lovely car.
Disappointingly slow for what i thought it was going to be, it's probably a weight problem.

It's not anyway the same as it's got its own dash etc but there's many buttons etc that are the very same.
We're not saying its no better at all hachiko but that most parts are straight from the Toyota parts bin.

    [...]

It will definitely share electronics with toyota. Toyota make very reliable electronics and toyota make lexus. It'l have a host of shared sensors and motors etc.

    True.

With one small exception: it's not toyota who make all those small electric things. It's Denso and a few minor OEM suppliers (Jeco, Takata, Ichikoh, etc...).

    :)

My freind has the same avensis. Tight as a nut even with 150k miles on it. More comfortable and better to drive on the back roads(every road :pac:) around here than any modern car I've driven on them. Exact same as yours only he picked up a set of standard toyota alloys for it. Looks well.

Was looking at these for a long time in England as the paddy spec is laughable :pac:

Sorry, only saw your post now... It was €14k. Amazing machine to drive!

Picked up the most bangernomic bangernomics I have ever picked up. :D

    Paid €250 for it.

    It's a 2001 Fiat Punto with a 1.2 engine. Runs nicely.
    Has NCT until 12/2015
Mileage is not sky high - 138k
Has some cheesy mods (such as awful tint job, weird gear knob and some other things)
    Tyres are decent
It has some cheap HID kit
Nice Pioneer head unit with USB and AUX (there was Gwen Stefani album in it )
Somewhat decent speakers put in the parcel shelf
Had a petrol can and a little tool box in the boot
The body is a bit rough though.

Felt like driving a van with those dark tints. :P

(oh... and it has better looking plates than the Volf :pac:)

Brilliant brilliant little cars those Puntos. Driving my sisters at the moment and they really are lovely little things :) Handling 8/10 but unfortunately power is only a 2/10:P

It's not bad for a 1.2 engine, very nippy for city speeds. Speaking of which, that city button is fascinating. :P

I wish it was original type x..originally a NA with SR20 conversion..not pic quality atm, front wings are off for a respray, and sitting on 4 axle stand while wheels get refurbed...should be ready next week all going well

I find the gearing quite tall in them too, makes them surprisingly good on the motorway :)

I would love to have a proper go in a 16V sporting :D
