Of every car I have ever owned, this has to be my favorite ever. Its just such a charming, brilliant little car.
I've enjoyed my time with the old girl. It killed me to sell her. Just thinking about it now, I'm properly gutted.

Black head in clare. Nice road for a spin if you follow the coast from kilcolgan to loop head.

Yeah, they drive very well. I had a silver one many years ago, an MR-S. Loved it.

Here's two from the archives of my own...

    Firstly the beautiful Astra :)
My cheapo car thats turned into damn near the best thing I've ever bought!

    309703.jpg

And the BMW, 50k on her since March last year and never missed a beat.
I can't give out about either of them :)
I think it's clean for a car with 182k miles on her!!

Believe it or not, it was a diesel... and on top of that, it was automatic too. :P

Mother of god, no wonder you had to paint something black :pac:

What did ya think? I wouldn't be an auto guy at all, but with the right mileage I'm definitely a diesel man atm.

    Hahah. :pac:

It was a friends' 2008 520D, black and it had 118k miles on it. Didn't seem to have noticeably more power than the Bora. Could be the weight difference or the way the auto was shifting gears, I don't know. It was a nice car though. Little too many gadgety things inside for my taste but I guess I could learn to live with them. :P

Strange how it doesn't come with a spare wheel. Just run-flat tyres all around.

What you wouldn't like comfort? :)

I have never driven a 520d, but I thought it would have been well quicker than the Bora, no insult intended just I would have thought that.
Are the 08 ones not the first of the 190bhp ish ones?

Mine had run flats, soon as they were worn they were gone never to be replaced :)

I do like comfort, but not too much of it. I have a craving for a MK2 Jetta again. :P

I am not sure, it could've been the 161bhp one. I didn't push it to the limit either. Yeah, I heard the run flat tyres are really expensive as well. I assume you do have a spare in the boot now? :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,846 ✭✭✭Moneymaker

I'm seriously considering an E60 as my next purchase.

Good value imo and those interiors are simply gorgeous.

They've stood the test of time too in terms of reliability.

Maybe so man not sure when the old engine was phased out.
Oh god yeah I have a space saver :) Looks priceless along with the 19's

At the minute they are ridiculous value, especially the larger capacity ones :)

Believe it or not I'm considering one now for a daily.
Would be my third bmw and second e60 in 12 months but hey.

There's a nice e61 (touring) 535d for sale on donedeal....

Not sure if it would interest you but I was dropping the car off for a chain tensioner in Kearys Cork earlier and they have a mint E91 07 335d touring, I think its waiting to be cleaned and put up for sale! I would imagine they are a rare beast on these shores!

Must keep an eye out on that one. I'm heading to a car show in cork on Saturday so I might pop in there too en route.
Hadn't considered a 335d if I'm honest. Probably should, as I'm forever reccomending 335i/d tourings to people in here as a good sleeper.
