My grandmother had one for years and it didn't cause any trouble until she crashed it into a brick wall and wrote it off. Actually just thinking of it now you never see them on the roads anymore compared to a few years back. Well wear either way I'm sure you'll make it you own and do a few interesting things to it :) I'll always be found of them because of the memories I used to clean it for her when I younger and all. Cars like that sparked my interest.

Actually also one crashed into the rear of my mothers Santa Fe in 2009 ish a few scratches on the bumper of the Santa Fe the escort both headlights broke bonnet bent back so far it broke the window bumper broke into bits and fell apart. Radiator leaked all over the road. It was mad to see the difference between the two but in reality he just hit right on the strongest part of the bumper. In other words just don't hit a Santa Fe and you'll be fine :)

had a brand new red escort ghia demo car back in 98. Was class at the time and had all the extras at the time on it. Probably my favourite car ive owned

    As promised :)

I was searching for an s2000 for a while and seen this so I said may as well have a look at it. Fell in love with it straight away. 2002 DC5 with only 110k kms on it and nearly completely standard bar spoon lowering springs, aem v2 induction kit and a few gauges which I will be removing.
    DC5%208_zpswz0sm204.jpgDC5%207_zpsz6t2iivm.jpgDC5%206_zpsgjlqfq2n.jpgDC5%205_zpscjat55g1.jpgDC5%204_zps7vhjq90v.jpgDC5%203_zpsstwlrqdf.jpgDC5%202_zpsqgzwb91o.jpgDC51_zpsmt9lsisd.jpg

Have nearly covered 400kms since collecting it and its a lovely car to drive and surprisingly comfortable.

    Plans for it
    Fitted recaro seat covers
    Good tires on the rear
    Take out the gauges
    Spoon gear knob
    Double din unit

DC5's are seriously quick cars in the twisties, even with all the stuff i had done to my old Focus in a twisty section was no getting away from one.

Probably going to get a warning for posting this in two forums but I'm mightily impressed by the work of MX Valeting (JAMES VTI S) that performed an enhancement on my black beauty today.

Do you get to keep the MX Valeting plate? :P

It would be cool to have a system like the states where you could have a personalised front plate.

It's not just in the states. In Latvia for example you can have any letter and/or number combination you want.

For example, saw this last week:

Numero uno should be a top line alarm(Clifford/Viper etc) fitted by someone who knows their stuff. Throw in a few hidden kill switches in case the scum get your keys.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Cant get over how well it handles. It's no where near the speed of my previous 535d but it a much more engaging drive which is what I was after

Oh they can embarrass a fair few more powerful cars on a backroad alright. Very nearly upgraded my DC2 for one(same colour too :)) then emergency money was required and so I'm still in the DC2. They're much more liveable with than the DC2. More civilised, feels much less a rattle box. The older Teg is IMH more raw, more engaging at the limit, but it's "always on". It is not a relaxing drive even toddling down to the shops, it's more a hair shirt on wheels. :D The K20 is a lovely engine too, ditto for the gearbox. They're also a practical car with a decent sized boot. Pretty good on petrol if you lighten up the right foot and reliable doesn't do them justice.

Sweet. Yep they are an atomic powered scumbag magnet. The red R is like a shiny thing to magpies.

Your really don't see many about these days.

Never drove a dc2, can imagine they are a great car to drive though. Petrol wise they dont use as much as everyone said once taking easy which is hard but I am managing to resist :D

Wonder if I painted the red R a different colour would they just not bother about the car haha. They are rare enough I only know one thats fairly close to me. Use to be loads of them. They are either locked up or crashed

Good lord don't let them hear you say that around here!!!!! The 5 series is regarded as a fantastic handling car on this forum and they most certainly will be cross that a fwd car is better!

I've never driven a DC5 but would love to at some stage. Hope you enjoy it :)

Best of luck with it, really like those, esp when they are not modified too much. If you have some interior and clock snaps it would be great to see them.

    Thanks

Good tires and an FRSU (springs, camber adjustments) can make all the difference once its done right.

What I miss most about mine is how easy it was to drive, very rarely had to go down gears once on the road and taking sharpish turns with nearly no effort :(

I've read this a number of times and I really don't get what you mean, now, of course you could explain in-thread the exact details, arguments etc and so forth, but I am really conscious of derailing the thread so I think it best you swing by Sligo and give me a shout, and we take turns ripping up some back roads while we discuss the finer points of the above post, I'm free anytime.....

Haha on route to you now. Just gives you alot more road feel and you can stick it pretty much where you want it on corner position. The bmw even in m sport felt a bit numb but was a great car. I loved it would own another in a heart beat

Hasn't had a wash in ages. Still really liking it though. I was thinking of doing away with the jap front end in favour of an Almera one, any thoughts?
