Cherishing the moment. Some day we'll look back and think - "remember that time you couldn't find your own local church? I had a lovely car then"

    A tear will be shed

And then you get called a weirdo for getting out to take a picture.

I know it all too well.

Nice car though, did look at a 3.6 4motion Passat CC before the GT86, until I saw the VRT and tax quotes!

I'm good for another 30 years yet before I qualify to be old enough to own a Skoda.

Bought it in Spring with sound advise from the Motors Forum.
Only 70K Km when bought and love it.
Never a fan of Auto before this now will never look back, only when taking her car and coast by the parking space I want when forgetting Im driving a manual.
A few small jobs due on it in the new year, a slight tint and new alloys.

seeing as it's how the threads going, there's something strangely satisfying about a filthy car :) this is two weeks and around 1k miles worth.

The wheels going brown, along with the rims drive me mad! Unless they're gloss black, I'm not happy. I've put the megs tyre shine up for the winter though, and will suffer on with bad looking tyres. After a long drives, constantly through floods, it tends to just come off.

10 years old next month with 305k km done. Has a possible congenital heart defect relating to the oil pump, but in 7 years of my driving it...it's been very loyal.

I gave the cars a much needed wash on Saturday so decided to throw some pics up here.

My Audi.....not bad for a car that will be 15 yrs old in January

And the Wife's car that will be 10 years old in January. Aged very well imo. All going well it'll trip over the 300kms mark in the next few weeks. Not bad for a 1.4!

Nothing better than a clean car in December. It was so filthy id to wash it twice and then gave it a quick spray of some oac perfection. Everyone should own some of this, oh the shine.

Hard to believe that it's nearly 19 years old and 153k miles on the clock

Did you not get a chance to do the alloys or are they just in serious need of a refurb??

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,812 ✭✭✭✭bear1

Always forget to ask you Quadri but did a lad called George own that before you?

Look at the shade of grey on the fronts compared to the rears. Classic brake pad dust deposits on the fronts by the looks of things.

    Car looks well though.

Thought he meant they were scuffed or something. Wouldn't really bother me enough to spend money refurbing them. Swap the fronts to the back, they'll soon match up :pac:.

If thats all you can fault, I'm happy :pac:
They're in serious need of a refurb. Thats them cleanish (I washed her yesterday) and have done 100 miles since on country roads so they were cleaner yesterday. I just didn't get a photo.
Ive a better set to go on to her, I just haven't gotten around to doing so yet as they're on another gtv. But they might never go on, as I may have found a set of 17 inch tele dials cheap

Nope it used to be owned by gtv gav on alfaowner, I bought it off him when the gearbox went and dgt did a **** tonne of work on it for me.
There is a george who posts on here quite regularly and he used to have a spider...maybe him?

Cheers...it has a long way to go to getting the way I want it to look. Focusing on making it drive better (better brakes, upgraded suspension, etc.)

Then when all that is done, ill get it resprayed, as it badly needs it. the roof and passenger side from the wheel back are a different colour (pink) than the bonnet, bumper and rear bumper and boot lid. These were taken off my donor which had immaculate paint and body panels but suffered from italian car syndrome.
The drivers side is a different colour again (freshly painted 6 months ago)....
it looks crap, but it drives so well, that it doesn't bother me. I don't have to look at it when I'm blasting it around a bend:D T
here is a one year gap between me being able to get classic insurance and the car being able to get classic insurance and its difficult apparently to insure a car over 20 years old, so i'll look into getting it resprayed then.
ill be taking my time with who Ill go with, If I'm spending probably 2k on a respray, I want something that looks good in 3 or 4 years time than just for the first six months and then the lacquer starts peeling. That was why the drivers side needed a respray

Cheers, Sadly the house isn't mine, just the parents...im not allowed have more than one car in the drive, so can't wait to have a place of my own. It can take eight cars, but the father likes to drive in and drive out without moving loads of cars

Cheers, and spot on. A combo of lovely bends on the road to work and ebc greenstuff pads do that. Its annoying factor, but so much better than oem pads.

Money...you don't want to know how much Ive spent on a 350 euro car....

I must do a build thread some day, even if someone else did build it for me. I owe him that much anyway:P
