Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    I'm thinking of getting rid of sky tv as most of it is repeats and was wondering what's the best alternative, what Starbox like or similar. It would be nice to keep sky+ features but not the end of the world. There's a few offers on done deal but if anybody has any experience with one of these other options can you let me know thanks.

    Hi,

    Without moving or re-aligning your dish most satellite boxes will work. You have a few options;

    You can get official Freesat boxes (stand alone or built in recorder) that will offer you a slick guide, teletext and all the channels in order. Generally speaking its a polished UI similar to what you get with sky. Only free channels.

    You can also buy Free-to-air satellite boxes (stand alone or recorders) that will pick up any free channels that are being broadcast by the satellite that your dish is pointing at. Only downfall is that you need to re-arrange the guide as the channels are all over the place otherwise. Some brands offer a file that you can download to arrange the channels with a USB update. The menu will be a bit sloppy as well but overall these boxes tend to be cheaper.

    Personally I'd go for a decent Humax PVR. Considering its a one off payment for the box you will have your money back in less than a year.

    Hope this helps
