I regularly use both oil and butter for bakes, personally I prefer butter because I've been using it since i was a kid ,

I use marge - I find it lighter than butter.

Usually butter but the Dairygold that comes in a half pound block makes excellent pastry, not half bad in cupcakes etc either.

I don't think you can beat butter for flavour. I'd only use oil if it's specifically called for, like in muffins or carrot cake.

Butter, it always tastes best. Sometimes oil when a recipe calls for it, but that's rare enough with my baking preferences.

+1, I thought the graphic would have mentioned taste.

What oil do people use? I was trying out a diet a while ago calling for very neutral oil, it recommended extra light olive oil, which was very flavourless.

Just crisp n dry :) Basically the only oil I ever have in the house beyond motor oil.

Whole butter, coconut oil or olive oil as they are the three least likely to turn into trans fats. Butter and coconut oil never will.

How does it actually work out ,

Only ever used olive oil when I didn't have butter

Just fine. It's a pretty neutral oil, so it gives moistness without changing the taste. I rarely have recipes that call for oil as the fat, as I despise cup-measured recipes and few european recipes seem to want oil in their cake.

Never use margarine or any spread - artificial things.

I always use butter, unless the recipe calls for oil. Oil and butter have different properties, so use the right one for the job.

Margarine and Flora sunflower oil when a recipe calls for it...
