Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

2 quick questions about the vetting form.

What exactly does "Hospitalised" mean. Do you put every visit you ever had to A&E, any overnight stays or what?

Also for the spare time activities section, do you only put things down if you were actually in a club. It's a vetting form, not an application form so I assume they don't care about hobbies and stuff unless I'm actually in a club?

I would call PAS if unsure, but "hospitalised", I would put any time that was serious, where you were admitted and received treatment. But call them up to be sure. . .

What? Really? Were you told that officially? Sounds like an odd way to release the results!

The more I think about this the less sense it makes. Won't they have to wait till everyone has the interview done to rank people?

    I was thinking that myself.
Only explanation I could think of is that you will know if you've passed the interview but you wouldn't know what ranking you are in the panel.

Hmm, was anyone else told to do this or just jrobertos? I can't wait already and I only did mine yesterday. Only waiting till next week would be way better than next month. When did you do yours Jroberto?

    3 plus one taking notes.

What is your surrounded by 4 people?

And is it 3 PAS staff, 1 retired AGS member?

I'm not sure is one a psychologist or something... one is taking notes almost behind you for equality purposes.

I can't speak for anyone else but in mine there was one (presumably PAS) taking notes to the side that didn't say a word. Then three sitting directly in front of you, they comprised of a chairwoman (presumably PAS) one uniformed inspector and one other who I'm guessing was a psychologist, all three asked questions at various times. I think I struck up a good rapour with the inspector. Not sure how I got on with the other two.

Yeah, I was the same. Missed their job titles.

Im not entirely sure. One of mine was very sticky though and kept asking how things made me feel in different situations

I'm going to take that as a complement!

Ha, all jokes aside, I just don't want to give away too much, it wouldn't be fair to people who already had their interviews.

    This waiting is a killer!

Just some conversation to keep me sane: There was at least three interview boards on the go when I was there. I was surprised at this cause wouldnt taking three inspectors out of the force for three weeks have quite an impact? Also, I wonder if there was much difference between each of the boards, i.e could you be lucky/unlucky...

When did ye have to do yer background forms and return them? I'm in the Irish stream, we've got our interview dates, but nothing has been said about the background forms. I honestly hope it doesn't have to be filled out until after the interview cos I'm under enough pressure at the moment preparing for the interview and working.

I received mine about a week and a half before the interview. They had to be brought, completed to the interview, and yes, they were a killer to complete and very time consuming (especially if you're like me - have a big family, have travelled a lot, and worked a lot of jobs).

Well I've got my interview on the 22nd, so I guess I can expect to get it soon. The biggest problem for me is that I have relations that I've lost contact with. It's impossible to contact them and ask for information without suspicion. I just had to come out and tell them the truth, and I still don't know if I'm going to be successful or a failure after the interview stage. But sure if it's got to be done, it's got to be done. I may as well keep ringing and getting information rather than be caught unawares in the week leading up to the interview. Thanks.

    Mod

Keep this to stage 4 discussion please. I already closed a thread on reserves because it was getting out of hand. If you feel you can add to the discussion please make a new thread and keep the posting constructive and within the charter

I'm not opening that can of worms and bogging this trend down.

In relation to stage 4, did any reservist find being a reservist was treated preferentially in the interview?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 326 ✭✭redsurfer

no, but it did help with having things to talk about,

  • Registered Users Posts: 209 ✭✭Copaholic

Its been said that its in the interview where on the job experience gained by a reservist can be an advantage. however its a pity that reservists need to get to stage 4 before they can a chance to demonstrate it let alone the reservists that don't make to stage 4.

So I have heard that the Irish stream are starting there interviews on 21st? Can any of ye confirm this? Think last english ones are on 20th. I would imagine interviews for Irish will last until end of next week so I'd be predicting results this day 2 weeks... You are marked as soon as you leave so don't see there been any delays once interviews are finished... I had mine yesterday - was happy with my performance anyway.

Yeah, it's not very well worded. I brought three with me anyway, didn't bring one from a member.
