"Car fanatic Philip Glenister (Gene Hunt - Life On Mars) and internationally renowned car designer Ant Anstead are on a mission - to scour the barns and lock ups of Britain for wrecked treasures to bring to life"

This started last night on CH4 (can be found on 4OD here) and i quite enjoyed it. First up was a restoration of a MK1 Escort Mexico.

    Thanks for the link.

I read some reviews on another forum, and it got the thumbs up.

I watched the start there, just noticed the mini has an old Dublin reg 539 KYI and still on the computer system here.

Thought it was excellent. I like the way he visits Escort fans around the place and has a chat with them about their passion for the car. Seriously interesting stuff.

Glad he stuck with keeping it original as well. Look forward to the rest of the series, have the sky box programmed to record it !

Would have preferred to see more restoration of the car!! All in all there was about what.....10-15 mins? The rest was of that presenter whom didnt do anything for me!

Prefered Car SOS was Fuzz Townsend....and the other guy...:D

I think the idea is that it's less of a restoration show, there are plenty of shows doing that, and it's more having a look at the history of the car and people around the cars today, which I think is a nice angle to take on it.

If its nuts and bolts restoration you want then watch a '
' is born with mark evans. Probably the most mechanically thorough build show

Edd China would be a good one too as he does give a fair amount of detail on some selected parts of each build, but his bumchum brewer really annoys me.

    fuzz is ok too.

a surprise contender is aaron kaufman from fast and loud, when they allow him a bit airtime over the goofing around of the rest of the crew.

did anyone see the close up of the wheel, just after the had attached the wheels to the bare chassis and the wheel nut was on back to front :P

enjoyed it none the less. would have broke my heart to have to have brought it out in the pissings of rain to leave all of the doors open and let half the country traipse through it after such a thorough resto job. but that's tv i guess.

The Mk 1 Land Rover was the subject this week. very enjoyable programme - just the right balance of elements for a Sunday evening.

The archive footage was brilliant and Tom Shepard is a living god!

Not sure about the resto, lot of money thrown at it and it's a shame they painted it DBG, a lot of resto's keep the original paint and patina these days. As an export that would probably have been mid grey originally. I'm sure I spotted a crosshead screw holding the numberplate on!

Apparently sold for £41k and now up for £56k, Series 1s are making silly money such that even battered old triallers are being restored.

Recorded this and watched in tonight, great restoration. Not a huge fan of the Escort from the outset but was as admirer afterwards, great to see people with a passion for old cars, especially the Harris family building the engines. Good to keep it original and not go on a Wheeler Dealers route and put in unnecessaey tack to ruin in.

I watched the Mustang and Caddy episode, that Bernie's does shout a lot, it seems to be part and parcel of those programs.

The Stag is very good looking, so many really nice machines so badly built in the 70s. Criminal.

Really enjoying it, especially the enthusiasts love for the car. Wishing now they'd do a series on italian cars now. Plenty of sud fans out their :D

Nice to see it wearing its Irish number plate over there, obviously money is no problem to them when they are doing the job it turned out a cracker. Enjoyable series.

Looked at the Escort Mexico episode -very good.

It wasn't the ultimate rwd Escort though. Not even close.

    Twin Cam, RS1600, RS2000 (Mk1 and 2) & RS1800 are all better cars than a Mk1 Mex imho.

Having said that the xflow is a sweet engine, and Mex values are still going skywards.
