Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is there any point in sacking him with 4 games left in the season? Surely be more dignified to let the season run its course and then let him go quietly.

Gives longer to find a replacement, you can't do that with the manager in place.

    Be grand.

When City win the League, it'll full of mocking Liverpool humor.

They should have given us on final one by announcing his sacking by flying a plane with the message 'You're Fired' across Old Trafford during their next match.

Still would have been classier than Chelsea's sacking of Ancelloti.

if Liverpool win the league in his first season, the first season with know SAF in 27 years or whatever, then as far as I'm concerned, he's done his job.

Would like to see Martinez take over and Id take Coleman and Baines off Evertons hands also

It won't be quiet no matter what time of the year he goes. Let him go now and get someone else in ASAP.

You certainly can, and teams do it all the time. In fact, I'd be very surprised if United don't have their replacement lined up and ready to take over after the season/World Cup presuming Moyes is about to be sacked of course.

See Wolves as an example of what happens if you sack your manager without having a replacement found prior to doing so.

Transfer targets will need to be identified ASAP especially with the World Cup on this year?

I'm sure they have wanted to do it earlier but now that Champions League qualification is officially gone they can probably do it on the cheap.

No point in hanging around any longer and having a negative influence on the squad.

The season is done.No champions league football. And with the world cup starting its the right time to start looking to get a manager in. I wouldn't trust Moyes with 100million transfer kitty.

    Harry Redknapp in.

How's Liverpool gonna retain the title if Man U sack Moyes?

    what's the point of not?

the players aren't playing for him by most reports, and the Glazers have to decide who they want to give a ton of money to in order to rebuild the squad.

4th is now mathematically impossible, so they have that excuse too.

for Utd, i'd have thought it's pretty perfect timing tbh.

To force Van Gaal's hand. De Telegraaf reported a few days ago that Spurs want an answer from him by the end of this week or they'll be looking elsewhere.

Interesting clarification from The Independent's take on the story:
Though United had been aiming to make the Scot's departure a graceful one when United's Premier League season ends at Southampton on May 11, he could leave imminently. Any attempt on his part to seek a clarification about his own future is unlikely to secure the reassurance he would be looking for. Without such assurances, he would be likely to tender his resignation and the United board would be likely to accept.

In fairness, from the 'Chosen One' banner to flying banners over Old Trafford, it's been like one big comedy show.

The results and league position were by far the funniest though.

No place in the UCL possible, no trophies. His contract probably had stipulations allowing him to be sacked for far less compensation if such targets weren't reached.

Bout fecking time too. Feel sorry for all the supporters of other clubs though.

Looks like Man Utd are installing the revolving doors at the club. We should be seeing a new manager at the club every few seasons.

So if Moyes was the 'Chosen One'.

What's the next manager going to be called?

    'Second Choice'??

Rumours as well that Barcelona have Van Gaal shortlisted to replace Tata Martino so Utd will have to move quickly

Maybe, maybe not. To be fair, if he is sacked, they held out way longer than most clubs today would have.

I feel sorry for Moyes. He had a secure job at Everton, and took a gamble by leaving for Man.United. Now only a year later he's out of a job with his reputation ruined.

I'd be utterly amazed if he resigned, thus losing out on significant compensation. Though both parties might be happy to spin it with that resignation angle I'd be very surprised if he wasn't paid a lot of money to go.

Typical of a Scotsman to get six years wages for one years work mind :pac:

It's highly unlikely any club would be stupid enough to give a manager a contract for six years without having certain performance conditions in place.

Better have one that isn't working though right? We're not going to have a Fergie situation in for 25 years every time we want a new manager, tbh trying to replicate that being the main factor was a deluded outlook. We're the only club that had a manager in for anywhere near that long after all

Very hard to see LVG taking a third stint there given how badly his last two ended there.

That would be an even worse appointment than Moyes. United must go for a manager that is a proven winner. Not someone who's biggest achievement in management is finishing 10th.
