The Rockets had Melo's picture up on billboards with #7 on them, however, that's Lin's current number. He was not impressed:

In all likelihood, Lin will be off if they get Melo anyway, but it will be slightly awkward if they don't land Melo after that :pac:

Whatever about Lin as a player, it's a real dick move is what it is.

Gonna be controversial here but I think Carmelo is on a downward slide, maybe about a year or two behind where Wade is now. Whoever is gonna sign him is going to overpay and not reap the awards they expect.

Recently retired forward Shane Battier has reached a multiyear agreement to join ESPN as a men's college basketball analyst.

Battier won an NCAA title at Duke in 2001, when he was named the most outstanding player in the Final Four. He just wrapped up his 13th NBA season, the last three of which were spent with the Miami Heat, with whom he won two championships.

After four seasons at Duke and 13 in the NBA, Shane Battier has retired from basketball and will join ESPN as a men's college basketball analyst.
"After a fulfilling run on the basketball court, I am absolutely thrilled to join the 'Worldwide Leader in Sports' in ESPN," Battier said. "I hope my experiences as a successful collegiate and professional basketball player will add meaningful insight into the dynamic arena of the sports world. I am looking forward to bringing a sense of candor, humor and perspective to all of ESPN's listeners, readers and viewers."

Battier joined ESPN's draft coverage in 2013, interviewing top picks after they were selected.

"Shane's championship caliber of play at every level of the game adds a distinctive element to our college basketball coverage," said Mark Gross, senior vice president production & remote events. "His passion for -- and extensive knowledge of -- the game enhances our deep roster of talented analysts."

Battier was a first-round selection (sixth overall) of the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2001 NBA draft. He played in a total of 977 regular-season games and 112 postseason games during his 13-year NBA career, scoring more than 9,090 total points.

His on the court accolades include: two-time NBA All-Defensive Second Team selection (2008, '09); NBA All-Rookie First Team (2002) selection; five-time Division Sportsmanship Award winner, two-time recipient of the Magic Johnson Award; and the 2014 Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year Award.

A four-year standout at Duke, Battier swept the major national player of the year awards at the conclusion of his senior year when the Blue Devils captured the national title.

Highly likely that Lance is gone now, barring a trade.

But damn, CJ got paid. Not sure if he's worth that.

What are you guys' thoughts on him?

OKC and the Bulls are very keen on Pau Gasol according to ESPN. Sam Presti, OKC GM has already been in contact with Pau, as well as that, they're also interested on The OKC Killa (as I call him), Mike Miller too. Both would have to take significant pay cuts as things stand to join Oklahoma.

Can't really see Pau at OKC myself.

The Spurs have agreed to a 3-year contract with Mills.

Not keeping Lance will be a mistake the Pacers will regret. He is a quality player, should have been an all star last season, He's 23, His game is only going to improve.

I'm not at all impressed with Miles, He's a below average NBA player.

He's also a graduate of the J.R Smith School of Knuckleheads. If he lands up at the Bulls I will be irritated.

ESPN is reporting that the Pacers offered Lance a five-year, $44 million deal. Which is an insult.

Wouldn't blame Lance for just walking out after that.

And if he goes with Melo? Bulls win the East with Rose, Lance, Melo and Noah. No question.

All hypothetical at the moment. My gut tells me there's going to be one major trade made by the Pacers yet.

Hardly that insulting. As I said I think it's about fair.

I'm going to bet that no team offers him more than 10 mil a year. Any more and he is being overpaid.

Just because the guy doesn't re-sign in the first few days doesn't mean he's not coming back, however. He owes it to himself, his family and his agent to see what's out there. I don't see anything wrong with him taking a few days to do just that. Although I will admit it's looking more likely that he'll leave rather than stay.

Bottom line is he turned down a reasonable offer. Lance wants more and there is only so much water in the well. The Pacers don't have it to give at this moment in point.

A few respected journalists are reporting that the Bulls interest in Gasol is due to thinking that it's unlikely that Melo will leave New York and a lot of the Knicks beat writers are almost certain he will stay.

If he does stay with the Knicks I'll be really disappointed, especially after it was reported that he told both the Bulls and Rockets in meetings that his first priority is winning. If it happens and he comes out and says he stayed in New York because it gives him the best of winning then that's a complete joke. For money and family reasons sure, but there's no way staying there gives him the best chance of winning.

Despite knowing better, I've got my hopes up on Melo and will be so pissed if it doesn't happen.

As for Lance and the Bulls, my well considered and thought out reply is that I would rather eat dog **** than sign him. A player who has the potential to single handedly destroy the culture created over the last few years. It just wouldn't work out.

Kyle Lowry reaches agreement on a four-year, $48M deal with Toronto

There's an agreement between Telfair and OKC apparently. Fairly underwhelming stuff.

Fairly show post draft offseason so far, No moves that really make much of an impact in the league,

Until LeBron signs a contract all other high level movement is on hold. Washington overpaying Gortat was a preemptive move covering themselves against the inevitable fallout whenever James makes his decision and teams start to panic and one team decided that Gortat is worth putting an offer on the table for.

Houston, Chicago, Dallas and the Lakers are all in play as big markets with money to spend. If they can't land their big targets, they will move on to Plans B and C.

    Figures wouldn't add up.

    D.Rose 18.62m
    J.Noah 12.2m
    Melo? Absolute Min 16-18m
    Taj 8m
    J. Butler 2.1m
    T.Snell 1.4m

That's 58-60m straight up already. Maybe more if Mirotic is coming across.Think cap is going to be in the region of 65m.

No room at the inn for Lance.

Just came across this photo. For a minute I thought he was copying M.J, (late career Jordan) as he has always done and piling on the pounds. But then I looked at the photo properly and particularly the shadow. I wouldn’t overreact to this.Photos can be misleading, and shadows can very misleading. He may have put on a few pounds but he is one of the NBA’s most-dedicated players. I fully expect him to be in shape – as in shape as an injured 35-year-old can be – when the season begins months from now.

Genuinely thought it was MJ in the photo on the right. I'm surely Kobe will be in top shape come the start of the season.
Dirk has resigned aswell for $30m over 3 years.

Damn that fake Woj account being retweeted, I'll admit it got me :pac:

On another note, the real Woj tweeted the below, which likely says it all about where Melo will sign.

Just turned 30, playing like he's approaching 50.
