BBC America has released the first teaser trailer for its upcoming paranormal drama series.
The creepy video features LAPD cop Jack Whelan - John Simm with an American accent - trying to comfort his wife Amy, played by Mira Sorvino.
The series, based on Michael Marshall Smith's 2007 novel, is about a secret society that chases immortality by taking over the bodies of other humans.
The story sees Jack leading a quiet life with his wife Amy until she suddenly disappears, with the trauma leading him to start an investigation that will change his view of human nature.
The team behind the show includes Glen Morgan (The X-Files) as writer and executive producer, Eduardo Sanchez (Blair Witch Project, Exists) and Daniel Stamm (13 Sins, The Last Exorcism) as directors, and Mark Freeborn (Breaking Bad) as production designer.
Intruders is lined up to launch this summer.

John Simm, Mira Sorvino, James Frain and Robert Forster starring in a new show from Glen Morgan? All that talent, what could go wrong?

Well.. the pilot was pretty damn terrible for one!

It was unintentionally strange (

Mira's character dancing to jazz when John's character walks in, and she get this bizarre coy exchange

), often predictable (James Frain's character better have more to do in future) and just not particularly memorable IMO. Oh and we also have a contender for worst child actor (oh, she'll grate more and more I reckon).

Maybe it'll improve but the pilot just didn't do it for me!

Haven't watched it yet. The terrible reviews have put me off. I'll wait to see if it gets better before committing.

Yes, it's quite noticeable, unfortunately. Any scene where she has to get emotional, angry or threatens someone and her delivery is off and forced. In contrast, the young twins in the classic X Files episode Eve were much better. Three episodes in and I think it's fairly mixed. The execution is the main issue, though perhaps some of the content isn't far behind. I'm fine with conspiracy type stuff, but I don't think it's working too well here. That, and the main relationship scene in 3 felt overly long.

Pretty decent finale - jigsaw started to come together somewhat with something of a payoff, I guess. I'm a bit hazy on some aspects of the show, so don't ask me to explain everyone's behaviour or what was going on. :P
