Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I want to upgrade my iPhone to a newer model - 4 to 5 essentially.

I have saw some for sale on Done deal at great prices.

Before I make a purchase though, can people tell me what I need to do to ensure I can use it when I get it? I'm not up to speed with the various terms like jailbreak etc.

In the past I have just went into the store and let the assistant do everything for me.

Call your network for a nano sim instead of the full sized one, and make sure you're all backed up on iCloud. Do a manual backup through iTunes too.

And make sure your new phone is unlocked!

Be very careful that you can trust the person you're buying from. Maybe adverts.ie (where sellers have feedback) is a better place to buy. Regardless of that, ideally you want to buy the phone with the original box (check imei matches) and receipt. Even having that doesn't mean the previous owner can't report it lost/stolen (phone will be blacklisted/barred and unusable to you) so do not buy in a public place or have the phone posted. Buy at someone's house/home so you know where to go if there's a problem. The fact that the phone works when you get it doesn't mean it still will a few days later...

I've bought all my iPhone upgrades (4) via adverts.ie. As well as ones for the wife and kids. Never had a problem in 5 years, just check their selling history and you're good to go. However, make sure Find My Phone is turned off and then sign in with your own apple/itunes id.
