Windows Starting Trouble

Hi When My computer powers up it stays on the black screen with windows starting for 5-6 minutes. I recently installed updates so I thought it may be that so I uninstalled them and made no change. I also took most of the programs on startup off still the same problem. Anyone know what I need to do.
