    Hi guys,

I came across a church ruin the other day and can't find any information about it on google or wikipedia and thought somebody here might know.

    Here are the details:
Church Ruin (Bell tower/entrance still standing)

    Location: Between Lismullin & Skryne
    to be precise:
    Lismullin
    Co. Meath, Ireland
    53.596305, -6.583198
    https://www.google.com/maps/place/Skryne/@53.5962096,-6.58434,229m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!3m1!1s0x48674225b7129079:0xa00c7a997322220

The street view on Google Maps is from 2009 and the whole area is just utterly over grown, nobody would know there's suppose to be a church in there.
But if you drive by it now it's completely cleaned up. So some Heritage Society must have gone crazy with strimmers & chainsaws there.

Anyone know the name or age of it?

According to the Ordance Survey 25" map it's "St Columba's Church"

If you change to the 6" map from 1840's it's not present. Though there is an embankment. The "street map" view on Ordnance Survey site, confirms the name and adds (in ruins) to it.

Given that it's Columba and not Colmcille it points to potential Church of Ireland perhaps?

That's interesting, thanks a lot for that.
I came across the name St Columba's during my web search, but some had it assigned to the Skryne Tower as well, which I know wasn't right...
So at least I got the official name now and know that it's less than 174 years old.

I checked archaeology.ie and it seems there are two archaeological sites there; the enclosure and a burial discovered in 1967. I can't see info online on the enclosure but there is some available on the burial.
Description: In 1967 an inhumation burial was discovered while digging sand near Skreen. It lies in a curved extension of an esker that loops around a church (ME032-069----). According to Rynne, the general size of the bones would indicate that they were those of a young adult (Cahill & Sikora 2011, vol 2, 387-388).
