    I call for a recount.

And keep counting  until we get the result we want. :pac:

The bitterness some people here seem to possess that Scotland didn't seem to have the same craving for independence and separation from the UK Eire did. Hence why we have braveheart quotes and people referring to the scots as cowards and idiots.

It will be a resounding no. Shock 60%+ landslide. Alex Salmond to resign.

I called this on Wednesday. But not gloating at all - very sad to see Alex Salmonds resignation. Excellent politician and looked like a very nice man. He did a superb job for his party - they were a bunch of oddballs until he took the leadership.
    I wish him well

I'm officially enrolling him into Michael Collin's army as a Major Braveheart Wallace. Instrumental in the defeat of the English and freeing the oppressed Irish and we will add a little blue cross in the trickcolour in the green part from now on. :p

To be fair, 45% did vote for independence and a couple of guys in my work spoke bad things about the No voters. An example is the over 60's who the vast majority voted No. Cuts are coming to the budgets and they were saying the areas to look at is the 'Free Bus pass' and 'Free elderly care'. The bus pass one should be cut, not sure about the elderly care one although means testing may have to be introduced

Don't you get it yet? All Salmond wanted Scotland to be free from was England. He wanted Scotland in the EU, that's how much he valued Scottish sovereignity.

Salmond saw a future in which Scotland could prosper by itself.

A man who had faith in himself, a Scottish Government and the Scottish people.

Most just ran away from that.

That man is running away from nothing. He'd support devolution for Newcastle or Tyneside in a heartbeat, he's said as much. This issue has far more levels than a simple anti-England agenda.

Can people not get it into there head that the Government too Southern England priorities first before it gave a dam about Northern England and good old Scotland.

Christ they even said they give Scotland more power. Lucky them eh.

He was driving independence. The burden was on him to make the case. To put a structure and a coherent plan around the dream. He failed to do that. And that was what lost it. Everyone blames the negative no campaign, but if he had had a more coherent plan he could have taken the wind out of their sails. There were just too many gaps in the plan in the end. Gave the no campaign so much to work with

Not everyone is going to believe that 'faith' will pay the bills

I also, am not remotely anti-English. By virtue of having an English grandmother, by virtue of having plenty of relatives that live in England, and by virtue, of, well, just not being anti-English.

In fact, I'm absolutely sick and tired of seeing No supporters (some, not all) in this thread misrepresent and downright defame Yes supporters as anti-English bigots and/or Provo wannabes.

Loyalist mobs on the streets of Glasgow tonight strikingly similar to the neanderthal loyalists up north in their behaviour. Not an ounce of grace in victory from some.

Seems to have been targetted on one of few cities that voted Yes? Same kind of element that were behind the Lansdowne Stadium riots of 1995, by the look of things.
