Birchalls or The Tap House for Birthday drinks?

    Hello,

    Planning some suprise birthday drinks next month (on a Saturday night) for a friend's birthday. I'm thinking Ranelagh as it's best location to lure him from his house but I've never been out there on a Sat night and I've been recommended both Birchalls & The Tap House - I'm not familar with either.

    Which would be a better bar for 30th birthday drinks?

    Definitely not Birchalls anyway, it's a quiet kind of a place and mightn't have the best atmosphere. (It's great for a few casual pints though). The Tap House has an area upstairs that I think you can reserve and the food is pretty good. You could look into McSorley's or Smyths as well.
