Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi Guys,
I'm new here, perhaps some one could advise me re. Land Cruisers. I never had one but I'm in the market for one. Will be viewing a 1998 Land Cruiser Amazon GX tomorrow, how does one know if it has a turbo engine ?:o
Or is it standard on all Cruisers. If it had turbo should it not specify Land Cruiser Amazon GX TD ?...........there's no TD ! just Amazon GX
How would a lay man know by looking at the engine if it was turbo ?
    Thanks in advance.

    M.

Pretty much any Irish Amazon was a 4.2 Turbo, don't think Toyota have put a non turbo diesel into the Irish market in a long time. The only other option was a 4.7 v8 petrol.. not common here at all.

More important to worry about is how much abuse it has taken. If it's a manual, then look out for worn syncromesh when changing gear - noticeable difficulty engaging gear at high revs. Also watch for rust on the upper tailgate section, a common weakness on an otherwise super truck

Thanks Trailer BoB, greatly appreciated. This Amazon is a manual, it's recorded as a 3.0 Ltr. it may be an import. I did a lot of researching on Google before asking for advise and all Amazons seemed to be, as you say, 4.2 Turbo or petrol. The seller is a woman and she says it's a turbo and 3.0 Ltr...but you know women and engines !
