yes, its not good. There were 4 in 'The Park' in quick succession. Based on conjecture, and no way on fact, this spree was possibly linked to another situation on Brenanstown road which has now been resolved.

few break inns in Lucan last night.

Apparently the next 4 weeks are PEAK time for this type of crime.
The Burglers are aware that many people go visiting around this time, and also many people have expensive gifts (jewelry or electronics) bought for others and stored at home.
Don't leave anything on display that can be seen from any of your windows. Use an alarm if you have one.

Three attempted break-ins and one successful break-in in the Ballycullen area last night ........... there seems to be a real surge in the last few weeks.

Christmas time is a high risk for your home to be broken into. Leave lights on and a radio up high .

I love the bit about armed gardai. There was a spate of these in areas ranging from Lucan through Blanchardstown, Cabra, Finglas and on up to North Co. Dublin.

No gardai patrols, never mind armed ones !

( I know, I know. Northside bla bla. Get your jokes in )

Lucan is on the south side

With regards the council name, I think the guys at Ryanair named it. Because like the airports they fly to its not where the name suggest it is

And yet Lucan is south of the River Liffey and lies within South Dublin CoCo borders, and it's not even in the Dublin West constituency.

It's in the County of Dublin and is south of the Liffey, ergo it's south-side.

Pedantry aside, Lucan is covered in Dublin County West on Boards Regions, its where the people there chat and post.

So Rathgar, Terenure, Rathmines, Dundrum, Rathfarnham, Churchtown etc. aren't in the Southside??

Dundrum S/C necessitated a boundary adjustment. East of the Green Line or within ¼ mile west of it is Southside nowadays. :D

Most pointless conversation ever. Anything to report re: actual breakins please put it here as it is useful to know.

Filtering through the rest of the garbage shouldnt be needed

Actually it's the middle pillar of the GPO which divides the city, none the less , Lucan is in West dublin. Ask the guys in the west dublin forum where it is
