Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'd bet money that it's the throttle body

Put your money where your mouth is so. Buy it, fix it and make €500 profit :)

    (or keep it :D)

Turbo gone means the engine was probably already mortally wounded at that time...

I agree. You dont write a long narrative in your ad that shows you have a pretty good knowledge of how your car works and the issues it has, and then say, all shy like, "but theres a likkle light on the dash now, I have no idea what it means... *curls hair round finger..."

But still, it technically is bangernomics, but equally (after code reading) it could be a fixxerupper. Eyes open lad! :pac:

    I bought a 05 9-5 2l Vectra recently. Is that a **** engine....

The turbo petrol engine (2l / 2.3l) is technically not even a Saab engine ;)

The 9-5 drives like a Vectra though, denial is futile :p

No, the engine in your Vectra is a modern Opel (GM) engine. It has nothing to do with the engine in the Saab 9-5. The latter has a design flaw, but it is actually a very good (but old skool) engine apart from that :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,077 ✭✭✭percy212

Wait. I am an idiot. Its a saab 9-3 VECTOR. Apologies, very distracted today!

Anyway, is my engine a piece of crap so? :D

Any chance a seperate thread could be opened regarding the Saab chat? It has been going on for ages now.
    To move on:

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/nissan-micra-for-sale/8138060

Just passed the NCT, this will sell very quickly IMO. Taxed as well until the end of December.

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/2000-ford-focus-ghia-for-sale/8138061

Longish NCT, 600e, Ghia model. Ugly looking dent on the door.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,825 ✭✭✭✭bear1

    Now this could be interesting:

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/alfa-romeo-156-jts-sports/8138058

The JTS engine which has about 165bhp although they were known to have much less than that.
NCT 07/15, looks clean. Timing belt done too which is a bonus. 650e.

Heap of tax, long NCT. I'd say you could get it for closer to 1k.

Again long tax and NCT. 650e. I get the impression it may have had a knock at the front though.

Ohhh I like this! Lovely tan leather, looks clean and straight. NCT 03/15. 1150e which I think is quite cheap.

A good wash and some make up remover to get rid of the 'eye liner' on the headlights!! Whats that all about?

If its legit, a great find, bear1

Edit: Nevermind, Just seen that they all have it!!

Probably is manky inside, but a 06 for less than 1.5k with a long NCT makes it worth a good 100e valet and you'd have a cracker in my mind.

Nice looking 9000 though but I don't like slammed suspension.

Has it?? Any 9000 turbos I've seen were always lower than their lesser models

I'm guessing it might be a matter of taking of the headlight like the Mondeo MK3. Either way I'm not too bothered though. Don't plan on owning one any time soon. I already have enough stress in my life:o

Passenger side indicator looks like it was dented and replaced.

This looks special. Long test, black cow, nice V6, tax not too punitive, and it hides its working class mondeo roots well.

As are some mercs, bmw's, fiats, renaults, opels, nissans.... If we exclude all potential problem cars we would be driving very dull machines indeed. The words 'caveat emptor' should be tattoo'ed across the forehead of all bangenomics fans, but thats part of the game.

A petrol, 2.1 v6 manual 2wd x-type with a good service history should be a reasonable bet. Usual conditions apply. Avoid any diesel or 4x4 version if you dont want big bills.

Was never bothered with saloon 3ers but that's pretty nice. My first Bimmer was an E39 coupe in that colour.

I would imagine the automatic gearbox in that slashes the worth (and interest) by about half.

in the mk2 pre facelift laguna it's still just a 5 minute job. i'd say you just remove that black plastic cladding and it's still handy on the mk2 facelift.

I think how handy it is depends how familiar you are with the process and how small your hands are. Essentially there's a cap on the back and then a holder that comes out with the bulbs in it. On one side it's a bit of a squeeze due to the window washer fluid container.
Is it just me or is the bootlid sitting a little high?

I own one of these and I'd say yes, just a tad (look at the taillights on the boot lid not quite lining up with the sides). There seems to be a slight dent too, but who knows, maybe she got a fair knock on the back?

Some discoloration down low on the rear bumper trim also, exhaust issues?

As a Laguna owner, I wouldn't go for this one! I'd say that year should still go for about 2k to 2.5k normally (depending on options, mileage, condition).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,097 ✭✭✭johndaman66

Not particularly. There is a dent on the wing to the rear of the indicator alright, nothing major though hardly a show stopper.

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/2000-mercedes-e200-kompressor/8148284

Merc E200 Kompressor with plenty of test on it. Shame about the lack of snaps but at least he tells us the mileage which is low enough for a 2000 at 132k. Think his claim of 42mpg is a bit on the optimistic side though.
    Asking €1,495.
