This match was interesting, very similar actually to the one I last posted. Same tank as well. Yet again I had the misfortune to come up against a Churchill on low health and the last alive.

The game wasn't going well initially - the rest of the team fell so myself and one of the Skoda's were the last left against I think 6 enemies. Slowly gained the upper hand though, through good teamwork we were able to wear down both O-I's, I got a lucky shot on the IS and also killed the PZ IV a few mins previously. This was despite me having a damaged ammo-rack from earlier and on low health.

The Churchill by this stage is the last enemy left so we split up and attempt to flank him on either side. Before he moved into cover I got a critical hit on him which did no damage. Couldn't risk exposing myself anymore as I was on my last 10% HP so I told the Skoda to distract him while I capped. About a minute into the cap, he gets killed so we lost the initiative there.

There I am anyway, knowing the guy will come for me and chose the wrong side of a rock mound to go up against him, got a damaging shot on him but not enough, he then returned the serve and killed me. The critical hit I mentioned earlier, had it done any damage might just have been enough to let that last shot finish him off. Typical of a situation like this to come up against a heavy.

Warships have started doing something that I already wish they'd have in Tanks.

When you finish a daily mission, you get a loot crate now. Aside from the usual stuff, extra credits, camos etc, you can also get a random premium ship there and then.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators, Help & Feedback Category Moderators Posts: 25,518 CMod ✭✭✭✭Spear

And again, Warships innovates where Tanks doesn't.

A tier 9 USS Missouri premium is coming. But you still can't buy your way into the high tiers, it can only be bought using free XP instead.

    Just to ask lads.

I upgraded to 3440x1440 monitor and tried Wot. It has that resolution, but game feels... wrong... like its squished? Is it fow issue or wot support for ultrawide is ass?

Could be a few different things. There's a dynamic FoV option which seems a likely candidate towards messing up the feel of it.

I reckon it'll be interesting. About time they tried something different.

Aside from the sandbox, the new graphics, and other major changes, there's even more important news: you can swap the clown T26E5 Patriot for a plain one now:

Does it retain the same camo values?

I kinda like the Xmas Camo now.

A response from Mr.Conway seems to imply that there's no cammo on the plain one, hence arguably a loss by moving, unless you in turn spend more gold on more cammo.

  • Registered Users Posts: 528 ✭✭✭VikingG

yes now that I can swap the camo on the Patriot I dont really want to ... as to the Camo I read that the Camo you buy with Gold is better than the camo that comes free on some of the premiums and black variant tanks

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,648 ✭✭✭✭beauf

The camo on the skorp is worthless anyway. I expect you can see it from space.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators, Help & Feedback Category Moderators Posts: 25,518 CMod ✭✭✭✭Spear

Standard bought cammo gives the same bonus as a fixed cammo, e.g. on Patriot, Blackdog.

The T25 pilot 1 mission begins this Sunday:

    https://thedailybounce.net/2017/03/10/mission-marathon-t25-pilot-eu-servers/

Oddly short notice for it, but it's only 13 daily missions to get it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 528 ✭✭✭VikingG

The first daily 5 missions in the T-25 marathon are ok... certainly not like the marathon that the T-44-100 was...

This is definitely better in many way, and way less of an imposition. Though at the same time I concede WG weren't gonna get many sales out of the T25 Pilot.

I'm on the German scout tree at the moment with the ultimate aim being the Ru-251. Got the SPIC a few weeks ago and was really annoyed to find that the HWK 12 as part of the update was placed in front of the Ru-251. Completely ruined the grind for me - 102,000 for the HWK 12 and the Ru-251 was raised to 197,000 (previously 92,000 right after the SPIC).

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators, Help & Feedback Category Moderators Posts: 25,518 CMod ✭✭✭✭Spear

The RU did get some changes, so while it's now a bit of a longer grind, there are some changes to it now, such as getting APCR as the default ammo, and not the slower AP.

I've only played the one game so far, but from the consensus I've seen, the T54 LT seems to be preferred now.

So, has anyone played the Ranked Battles? If so, what do you think?

I haven't tried them myself because I'm not really interested. I don't see it being enjoyable and I don't have the credits to waste playing tier X anymore. I've seen quite a lot of whinging on the forums but I guess that will always be there no matter what or what isn't implemented.

I'm about to give up again. In the Random battle I just get spammed by the high tiers (T9-10) with gold. Even when I'm in something with no armour and I get an E50 or similar is just firing gold, at me, same with the top tier auto loaders. It makes any of armour in the few tanks that have it, completely useless. Must be costing these guys a fortune to play like that. There is an awful lot of camping going on. Game after game where the half the team refuses to move.

Given the WoT Blitz changes, I believe there is some hope on the horizon finally.

  • Registered Users Posts: 528 ✭✭✭VikingG

I was happy enough with the ranked battles...certainly a step up from the Randoms. However they are not cheap and I certainly dont like the invention of new equipment as part of the rewards..

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators, Help & Feedback Category Moderators Posts: 25,518 CMod ✭✭✭✭Spear

It's a bit better on WoWS, though not in every aspect. There's no premium ammo there, which means it isn't a credit sink, but there's only a small set of preferred ships that anyone plays.

  • Registered Users Posts: 528 ✭✭✭VikingG

Free day of Premium if you log on and win a battle between now and June 22nd

They've reduced the premium ammo damage by anywhere by up to 30%, and averaging 15%. They found that premium ammo did 15% more damage overall, hence they reduced the damage by 15%.

That's the last one tank for one day deal I believe. It's now doing a variety for the last few days:

Word is the AMX 50 Foch 155 is being replaced, but those who already have the 155, get to keep it as a reward tank.

The Super Conq has appeared finally, and word is that it replaces the 215b, which you get to keep a la the Foch 155.

Live two days ago, but I haven't tried it yet. I've spent my first few matches doing the low tier Chinese TDs.

I managed to get the Foch 155 grind done, buying it last Saturday evening. The entire French TD line is truly awful. They have no virtues at all, just clunky, impotent junk. But I got two tier 10s out of it, which are now buffed.

30v30 is one of the first things I'd be trying :D Will check it out tomorrow (assuming the patch has dropped in SEA server... I'm not sure)

Oh, SEA. No idea then, but the rest are done, so it can't be far off.

More time to do the Foch 155 grind if you're in a masochist mood....

I'll be honest I hardly play any more and I can't stand turretless TDs anyway. I just drop in from time to time for a few quick matches here and there.

The new Chinese heavy tank makes a nice excuse/reason to play the WZ 111 1-4 again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,893 ✭✭✭Canis Lupus

Well looks like I won't be playing. Undersea cable to Asia has been cut which means traffic is rerouted causing a ping of 350ish. Tentative fix time mid October.... Oh well.

Cable cuts are a common occurence. Even though they're armoured, tidal forces will abrade them over rocks, sharks will chew on them, and idiots with boats will drag anchors. It's not so bad around Europe, since there's usual a fair bit of redundancy. But if it's out in a major ocean it'll need a properly equipped boat to be sent out, hence the long repair time.

Yeah the important cable for WoT is the one from Perth to Singapore as it gives the most direct route from Aus and a ping of circa 130. That tends to get cut at least once a year. The alternative cable sends traffic the long way around and results in pings like I said of 350+ We appear to be doubly screwed at the moment as cabling from Syd to HK has also been cut due to typhoons. Australia is such a ****ty place to live from an internet perspective :(

For anyone grinding the British heavy line, you've about 4 weeks to get your FV215b left:

Great, I never got the hang of the fv215b. But like the conqueror so hopefully this will bet a better version!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,677 ✭✭✭Aenaes

I didn't know they were doing that, I haven't even started the British heavy line. Although, the only British line I've started and then completed is the medium line to claim a free FV4202 but then they made it a marathon reward so I never got it anyway.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators, Help & Feedback Category Moderators Posts: 25,518 CMod ✭✭✭✭Spear

With 4 weeks, I wouldn't think it practical to try the grind now.

But this has been suspected to be the case for a few months now, but only just got officially confirmed to be the case.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,677 ✭✭✭Aenaes

So the T71 is being split into two lines on the tech tree in the next patch.

T71 gets renamed "T71 DA" and will lead to T57 Heavy.

"T71 CMCD" is being introduced with no magazine loading system and will lead to the Sheridan.

From the WG site: "Please keep in mind that the XP you earned on the T71 DA gets transferred to the T71 CMCD with the release of 9.20.1. Also, there’ll be no transition from the T71 CMCD to the T69 in the Tech Tree, just as there’ll be no way to reach the M41 Bulldog from the T71 DA."

Just a heads up to anyone currently playing the T71. I have 150k exp sitting on the T71 because I wasn't sure whether to research the Bulldog or T69. So it looks like I'll be researching the T69 now.
