I remember exactly where I was when I saw the very first Riverdance.....
I was sitting in front of my TV watching the Eurovision Song Contest
At least you watched it, I missed it, I went to the kitchen to make tea and it was all over by the time I returned to the living room :o

I switched over to watch Don't Forget Your Toothbrush on S4C while the interval was on ...

I'm still happy with my choice, I never really got Riverdance.

Ah, Harry I blagged my way in on my brother-in-laws ticket.

Enda Kenny's wife Fionnula was the PR for RTE in those days after she left FF.

    There you go. Pointless info!.:D

    Wow...20 years :(

As well as the horror sight of seeing Gerry Ryan wearing mustard yellow

    I remember thinking Ireland's song won't win :o

How can it be called 'Rock 'N' Roll Kids' when it doesn't sound rock 'n' roll?!

Evening all, Riverdance really lifts everyones mood.

The night Alison Canavan was on the LLS a few year ago preaching to Mothers about how to raise their children gets my vote for the worst LLS ever.

It was awful, the thread was brutal too. But at least I can say every week since isn't the worst ever.

Ali Canavan. The woman is a looker but has the most annoying voice.
Amazing how she's made a career out of some dude leaving her to be a single mom.

Is anyone in Ireland not depressed?........:(

Though I know it's great that it's been "outed" nowadays I'd love happy people every now and then....

I know what you mean, Harry.

You had to suspend judgement and just enjoy it, but he knew how to do light entertainment.

They're very good speakers, being beautiful, or very wealthy, doesn't protect you from illness, mental or physical. We can take so much for granted.

Oh, I'm not sure about that. I met him once, he was wearing flip flops and his feet were manky.

Seriously, I kept looking at them. It was like a magnet for bad eyes....:(

  • Registered Users Posts: 826 ✭✭✭edelweis

Ah, the old "Let's bring the camera all around Montrose" trick.
Not an original idea in their heads.

Ah come on, it was well done, I thought it was sweet, and I'm not a River Dancer! I spotted three little Asian children which was great but oddly no black dancers. That'd be nice to see

Was misery porn such as feature of the LLS in Gay Byrne's time too? Or do we just look back with rose tinted glasses to Billy Connolly and Peter Ustinov.... This is turgid stuff for Friday night television.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,444 ✭✭✭✭Skid X

Hanging around with Bono for 30 years wouldn't be easy, in fairness.

Quite possibly the posh private school in England that he attended, before his family moved to Ireland.

No, it wasn't always great but Gay went in for topical debates with the audience rather than misery guests. Usually worth watching, sometimes brilliant.
